Armin Emil Schenk was born on May 21, 1927, in Springfield, Minnesota to Edward and Emma (Kettner) Schenk. He was baptized and later confirmed at the Zion Lutheran Church in Springfield, Minnesota. He received his education from Springfield rural schools. In 1944 at the age of 17, Armin enlisted in the United States Navy where he served in World War II for eighteen months when he was honorably discharged.
On June 5, 1949, Armin was united in marriage to Elaine Krengel at the St. John's Lutheran Church in Morgan, Minnesota. This marriage was blessed with four children, Dean, Mavis, Diane, and Mark. After marriage, Armin and Elaine farmed west of Comfrey until 1954 and farmed near Morgan until 1968 when they moved to a farm by Windom, Minnesota and continued to farm. Elaine passed away on May 6, 1989.
On July 28, 1990, Armin was united in marriage to Clara (Evers) Christianson at the First Lutheran Church in Butterfield, Minnesota. After their marriage they lived in Butterfield.
Armin passed away on Friday morning, January 20, 2012, at his home at the age of 84.
Armin was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Windom. In his early years he ushered and was a member of the church board and of the Lutheran Brotherhood. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 206 in Windom. Armin enjoyed dancing, playing dominoes, telling stories, visiting with people, kids, and most of all spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife, Clara Schenk of Butterfield; three children, Dean Schenk and his wife, Karen, of St. Joseph; Diane Riewe and her husband, Denny, of Prior Lake; and Mark Schenk and his wife, Brenda, of Windom; two step-daughters, Karen Laingen and her husband, Steve, of Butterfield and Carol Holland and her husband, Bruce, of Mankato; ten granddaughters; four step-grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; seven step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Esther Gieseke of Springfield and Delores Sater and her husband, Bob, of Minneapolis; several nieces and nephews and other relatives.
Armin was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Elaine Schenk; daughter, Mavis Schenk; one brother, Walter (Butch) Schenk; one sister, Erna Balbach; and one step-grandson, Andrew Holland.

Sorry to hear of Armins passing. He was always so friendly and the kids always looked forward to trick or treating at Armin and Claras. He was and awesome man and will be missed by many!!
