Hazel H. Moon was born on November 30, 1915, in Windom, Minnesota to the late Ezra J. and Olga H. (Christensen) Clark. She received her early education in District 76 of Amo Township, Cottonwood County, Minnesota and later graduated from Westbrook Public Schools. She then furthered her education at the University of Minnesota where she studied to be a home economics teacher.
On June 6, 1939, Hazel was united in marriage to Jess Moon at the Amo Methodist Church near Storden. Following their marriage, Hazel and Jess lived in Heron Lake until 1942, when they moved to Cloquet for some eight months while Jess trained in the National Guard. They moved to Windom thereafter and were members of the Windom community ever since. Hazel and Jess owned and operated Moon's Locker in Windom for sixty-three years and were an integral part of the Windom community. Hazel also was a loving wife, mother, grandma, great-grandma, and great-great grandma.
Hazel was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Windom where she was baptized and confirmed. She also was past president of the Women's Society and Past Matron of the Eastern Star (4 years). She had many enjoyments in life which included her family, sewing, knitting, and crocheting and gardening.
Hazel is survived by her two sons, Eldon Moon and wife, Deanna, of Windom; Jerry Moon of Windom; 8 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; one sibling, LuEtta Hedrick and her husband, Duane, of Dundee; two sisters-in-law, Beverly Clark, of Silver Bay and Gracie Clark of Windom; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Hazel is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jess Moon; son, Bruce Moon; two brothers, Leon and Marlyn Clark; two daughters-in-law, Jacqueline and Susan Moon.
