Arlene Meyer was born March 3, 1940 to the late Tebbo Menno and Jeanette (Finger) Prins in Jeffers, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed into the Methodist faith at the Jeffers United Methodist Church. Arlene attended Jeffers Public Schools; graduating from Jeffers High School in 1958.
On January 3, 1959, Arlene was united in marriage to Arlen Meyer at the Jeffers United Methodist Church. Arlen and Arlene farmed north of Jeffers until November of 1962 when they moved to the farm south of Storden. Arlen passed away suddenly on April 11, 2006. After his death, Arlene remained on the farm for two years. She lived out the remainder of her years at Keelson Harbour Memory Care Unit in Spirit Lake, Iowa. She remained there until recently when she became a resident of the Lake Park Care Center in Lake Park, Iowa where she passed away peacefully on Monday morning, December 30, 2013, at the age of 73 years.
Arlene was a longtime member of the Amo Lutheran Church in rural Storden where she was a member of the church choir and the ladies aid. Arlene will be remembered most for being a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother, neighbor, and friend. She had many enjoyments in life which included family vacations, quilting, baking, cooking, gardening and humming.
Arlene is survived by her children; Tim (Louise) Meyer of rural Heron Lake; Pat (Bob) Clark of Milford, IA; Carolyn (David) Krause of St. James; Jeff (Benita) Meyer of Oviedo, FL; Beth (Jeff) Kelm of Hammond, WI; 13 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Clyde Prins of Walnut Grove; Robert (Marjorie) Prins of Storden; Norman (Ruth) Prins of North Mankato; Bernice (Lawrence "Jack") Ryker of Jeffers; Kenneth (Shirley) Prins of Jeffers; Janet Prins of Jeffers; Richard Prins of St. Paul; one brother-in-law, David Vining of Rapid City, SD; sister-in-law, Mary Lou Prins of Springfield; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Janice (Marvin) Goebel of Fairmont; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Arlene is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Arlen Meyer; two sisters, Beatrice Vining and LaDonna Eucken; and one brother, Marvin Prins
