Obituary

Bette Lou Witt was born on December 13, 1922, in Storden, Minnesota to the late Edwin Everett and Bessie Hazel (Ruhberg) Moore. At the age 9, she accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior and followed Him in baptism. She received her education in Storden, Minnesota; graduating in the Class of 1940. She then attended the Minnesota School of Business, graduating in 1941. Following that she started her first job at Aetna Life Insurance Company. In 1945, she moved to Los Angeles, California and worked as a bookkeeper and secretary for decorating contractors. June 1948, found her returning to Minnesota with a new sparkle in her eye for none other than Kenny Witt. They had met in second grade. Twenty years later they were bitten by the love bug and were married on February 12, 1949 at the First Baptist Church in Storden, Minnesota. Their marriage was blessed with three sons, Jeff, Steve, and Carter. In 1955, they moved to Windom where Ken and Bette where owner/operators of the Witt Funeral Home before merging with Art and Idelle Hanson and forming the Hanson-Witt Funeral Home. Through the years, Bette was an accountant and helped with the make up and hairdressing at the funeral home. Betty was a longtime, dedicated member of the First Baptist Church in Windom where she sang in the church choir, took part in Bible Studies, and a member of the Ladies Circle. She also helped with directing the Preschool Sunday School at the American Lutheran Church in Windom and was a member of the American Ex-Prisoners of War. Betty also had many enjoyments in life which included golfing, being a Cub Scout den leader, and spending time with friends and family. She will be remembered as a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother. Bette recently fell and was taken to Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park, Minnesota where she passed away on Monday, July 6, 2009, at the age of 86. Bette is survived by her three sons, Jeff Witt of Olney, Maryland and his two children, Joshua and Emily Witt; Steve Witt and his wife, Kathy Bye, of Minnetonka and their four children, Charlie Fast, Rachel, Mariah, and Jared Witt; Carter Witt and his wife, Nancy, of Eaton, OH and their four children, Jesse, Hannah, Levi, and Grace Witt; and several other nieces, nephews, and friends. Bette is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth Witt; two brothers, Edwin E.
