Dorothy Carrie Weinzetl was born on March 30, 1935, in Heron Lake, Minnesota to the late Emil and Anna (Whitney) Miller. She received her education in the Heron Lake Public Schools. Dorothy was united in marriage to Robert Thompson in 1952. Together they had 8 children. The marriage was later dissolved. On February 27, 1975, Dorothy was united in marriage to Marvin T.Weinzetl in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Through the years, Dorothy was a stay at home mom, raising 9 children and 3 step-children. On June 3, 2004, Marvin passed away. After his death, Dorothy continued to live in Windom and on March 1, 2011, she was taken to the Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota where she passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at the age of 75. Dorothy very much enjoyed life, and her family meant the most to her. Besides raising her children, Dorothy enjoyed sewing, cooking, baking and canning. Every spring Dorothy would plant her flower garden outside by her patio, where she loved to read. She was a loyal camper, spending late spring till late fall at the Anderson-Robertson-Brown Campgrounds. Through the years, every fall she would spend hours in search of those delicious berries and plums in which she would make the best homemade jam. She also had a great love for animals, especially her dogs. Dorothy will be remembered for being someone that loved and accepted everyone and was loved by all. Dorothy is survived by her eight children, Bobby Thompson (Kate) of Chandler, AZ; Peggy Strenge of St. James; Lori Larson (Rick) of Owatonna; Kimberly Thompson of Mesa Casa, AZ; Lisa Thompson of Isle; Sheri Thompson of Faribault; Mike Thompson of Windom; Melody Weinzetl and Tim Braun of Lakefield; three step-children, Audrey Aning (Seivert) of Luverne; Debra Benson (John) of Rush City; Brenda Vatland of Colorado Springs, Colorado; 34 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great- grandchildren; sister, Marie Walter of Heron Lake; brother, Raymond Miller (Rosemary) of St. Paul; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, Emil and Anna Miller; husband, Marvin Weinzetl; one daughter, Sharon Gunder; two great-grandchildren, Amanda Rummens and Esmeralda Estrella Pedraza; three brothers, Herman, Les and Alvin Miller.
