John Michael Sajban was born on June 28, 1922 in Parnassus, PA to John and Susan (Kmetz) Sajban. He was baptized on July 9, 1922 in Parnassus, PA and later confirmed at the Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Garfield, N.J. He received his education from Garfield Public Schools and graduated with the Class of 1940. John received his bachelor's degree from Rutgers University in New Jersey in 1952. John was enlisted in the United States Navy from May 14, 1942 until he was honorably discharged on March 15, 1948. John was united in marriage on January 1, 1946 in Garfield, N.J. to Susan Velebir. This marriage was blessed with ten children, John, James, Mark, Susan, Philip, Joel, David, Paul, Thomas and Timothy. John and Susan lived in Garfield, Wyckoff, and Toms River, N.J. John worked as an industrial engineer for over thirty years at Raybestos Manhattan. He also worked at Boontonware, Kohner Toys and Eagle Affiliates where he retired from in 1989. Susan passed away on July 14, 2006. After her death, John continued living in New Jersey until moving in September of 2015 to Windom, MN. John passed away on Friday morning, July 22, 2016 at his home at the age of 94. John was a member of the Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Windom, MN. While living in New Jersey, John was first a member for many years at Holy Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Garfield where he held various offices including that of congregational chairman. After retiring and moving to Toms River he joined Redeemer Lutheran Church in Manchester where he was a deacon, usher, and on the financial committee, being a head usher until the age of 92. He dedicated his life in service to the Lord and his church. John was a lifelong Republican and supported this party all his life. He enjoyed golfing, going to brunch with his family and many trips to Florida with his brother. He is survived by nine children, John (Michelle) Sajban, James (Kathy) Sajban, Susan (Jeff) Worth, Philip (Nanci) Sajban, Joel Sajban, David Sajban, Paul (Nancy) Sajban, Thomas (Karen) Sajban and Timothy (Sherri) Sajban; nineteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Susan Sajban; step-father, Michael Sabanosh; wife, Susan Sajban; son, Mark Sajban; brother, George Sajban; and step-sister, Ann Osbun.
