Lyle James Snook was born on August 12, 1922, on a farm east of Jeffers, Minnesota to Arthur James and Isabelle (Nickolson) Snook. He was baptized at an early age and attended school in Jeffers where he graduated in the Class of 1941. On December 28, 1941, Lyle was united in marriage to Betty Marie Skoog in Spencer, Iowa. They made their home on the farm in the Dale Township. Betty passed away in 1968. On March 19, 1971, Lyle was united in marriage to Mary Jane (Gjengdahl) Haas and continued to make their home on the farm. In 2008, Lyle's grandson, Clay, began farming the farm. On Saturday, February 27, 2010, Lyle was found dead in his home. Lyle has attained the age of 87 years. Lyle was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Windom. He enjoyed flying model planes until his Parkinson's made it too difficult. He was a member of the Windom Eagles Flying Club. Lyle and Mary were also members of the Sons of Norway. Lyle always enjoyed traveling to California in the winter to visit relatives. After Lyle retired from farming, he enjoyed gardening and shared his produce with his many friends. Lyle was a very good woodworker and made many things for his loving family. Lyle's grateful family includes his wife of thirty eight years, Mary of Windom; three children, Peggy (John) Roll of Bingham Lake; two son's, Gary (LaRaye) Snook of Lynd; Perry Snook of Spring Lake Park; three step-children, Kathy (Danny) Beam of Windom; Robert (Yvonne) Haas of Sioux Falls, SD; Janelle Haas of Windom; one sister, Janie Wellner of Springfield; six grandchildren, Clay (Mellissa) Roll of Bingham Lake; Mindy (Todd) Weeks of Wentzville, MO; Gary Snook, Jr. of Bismarck, ND; Kautia Snook of Lynd; Kayla and Kaitlyn Snook of Chelmsford, MA; seven step-grandchildren, Joshua, Melissa, and Melanie Beam of Windom; James, Alan, and Kimberly Haas of Sioux Falls, SD; four great-grandchildren, Jackson and Brooklyn Roll of Bingham Lake; Chance and Summer Weeks of Wentzville, MO; two step-great-grandchildren, Angel and Ania Beam of Heron Lake; and many nieces and nephews. Lyle is preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Betty Snook; great-granddaughter, Alexandra Roll; step-grandson, Jeremy Beam; two brothers, Russell and William Snook; and three sisters, Zelda Eidem, Margie Miller and Eunice Phelps.
