Ralph Herman Meyer was born in Germantown Township, Jeffers, MN on February 1, l912, the son of Nicholas and Minnie (Krock) Meyer. He was baptized and later confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Germantown Township. He received his education from Jeffers School District through 10th grade and then finished high school and 2 years of college at St. Paul Luther Academy in St. Paul, Minnesota. On December 16, 1936, Ralph was united in marriage to Nora Mischke at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Rosehill Township where they were active members for many years. This marriage was blessed with eight children. Ralph and Nora continued farming for 46 years south of Storden in Amo Township where they raised their family. In l979 they moved into their home in Windom. Nora passed away on July 1, 2006. Ralph continued living in their home in Windom, later moving into Remick Ridge and then to Mikkelsen Manor. Ralph passed away on Saturday morning, January 16, 2010, at the Sogge Memorial Good Samaritan Society at the wonderful age of 97. Ralph was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Rosehill Township, Bethany Lutheran Church in Storden and after moving to Windom became a member of the American Lutheran Church. He served on the boards for the Storden Public School, Farmer's Grain Elevator in Storden and the Swan Lake DAC in Delft. He served as Chairman, Deacon, Trustee, Secretary, Treasurer, and Sunday School Teacher at Emmanuel Lutheran Church. He served on the Bethany Lutheran Church cemetery board. He was a member of the Golden K Kiwanis Club in Windom. Ralph enjoyed singing, reading, horses, cattle and going to the many sporting events of his children and grandchildren. In his retirement, Ralph enjoyed fishing, reading, and watching the birds near his home on the river. Throughout his life he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren the most. Ralph is survived by seven children and their spouses, Jeannine Holmberg (Darrell) of Lamberton; Carol Flitter (Gerald) of Madelia; Robert Meyer (Carrie) of Comfrey; Marvin Meyer (Diane) of Richfield; Richard Meyer (Wendy) of Storden; Nickolas Meyer ( Blanche) of Storden; Lillian Gronewold (Mark) of Madelia; 21 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Ralph is preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Ramona at age 3; two grandchildren, Jonathan and Cari Holmberg; one brother, William Meyer; and one sister, Freida Wolter.
