Adele Jane (Johnson) Hage was born on March 30, 1929, in rural Belmont Township to the late Elmer and Hilma (Anderson) Johnson at home on the family farm. She was baptized at Gustavus Swedish Lutheran Church in Lakefield, May 5, 1929, and confirmed on June 8, 1941.

She attended country school in Belmont Township grades 1-8 and then graduated from Lakefield High School in June 1947.

She was united in marriage to Darrel Hage, October 12, 1947, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lakefield. Darrel and Adele were lifelong members of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lakefield, where Adele shared her beautiful alto voice in the choir and with the women's group, Jubilants.

Adele's vocation was as a wife, mother and homemaker, but she held many other jobs during her working career which started in high school at Field's Bakery. She also worked at the ASC office and at the Milbrath grocery store.

After Darrel's parents opened Bowler's Inn in October 1947, Adele worked at the bowling alley, eventually taking over for Agnes Hage doing all the baking (everyone loved Adele's green tomato mincemeat and sour cream raisin pies, along with all the other delicious things she learned to bake from her mother-in-law!). Adele ended her baking career in 2000, when she and Darrel took a trip to Vienna, Austria to visit daughter, Linda, and family, and traveled to Sweden to visit relatives there.

Adele and Darrel made several trips to Austria and loved traveling around the United States to visit relatives, friends, and classmates.

Adele's greatest passion was of course bowling! She planned many trips for her teams to participate in 50 state bowling tournaments all around Minnesota, and she also bowled in 39 national bowling tournaments, held around the country, so her van put on many bowling miles and provided a lot of fun and entertainment for her and her bowling friends! She was inducted into the Minnesota Bowler's Hall of Fame in 2013 for her dedication to the sport of bowling and for all the kids that she taught to learn and love bowling. Golfing was her other passion and she golfed in leagues for many years.

As a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lakefield, she served as secretary and treasurer for the choir, was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary, served on Alter Guild and she held offices of president, treasurer, and delegate for the LWML (Lutheran Women's Missionary League), attending state and international conventions, singing in their choir as well.

Darrel and Adele were members of the Lakefield Lion's Club and participated in many of their conventions and activities, enjoying the opportunity to help with events and projects.

Adele passed away peacefully at The Colonial Manor in Lakefield on February 24, 2024.

Adele is survived by her children Lynell Hage, Linda (Kurt) Bednar, Dewayne (Donna) Hage, and LuAnne Hage, grandchildren, Nick (Tim Smith), Drew (Amy) and Trevor Hage and Sandra and Christopher (Kerstin) Bednar, great-grandchildren Luisa and Lennard Bednar, sisters-in-laws, Berniece Kolander, Beverly Hall, Mary Lou (David) Rossow, and Diane (Jim) Laursen and many nieces, nephews and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Darrel, brothers Walter (Lorraine), Harry V (Myrt), Roy C (Helen), Melvin F (Lydia) Johnson, and sisters Darlene (Ansel) Norgrant, Edith (Robert) Tripp, Esther (Art) Ward.

The family thanks the staff at Valley View Assisted Living, Colonial Manor and Avera Hospice for the loving care they provided for Adele over the past months and years!

The family requests memorial donations to Immanuel Lutheran Church or Avera Hospice in lieu of flowers.

A Celebration of Life Service for Adele Hage, age 94, of Lakefield, will be held Monday, March 4, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lakefield with Pastor David McDonald officiating. The service will be livestreamed on the Immanuel Lutheran Church Facebook page. Burial will be in Immanual Lutheran Cemetery in Lakefield.

A time of visitation and gathering will be held one hour prior to the service, from 10:00 – 11:00 AM, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lakefield.

Adele Hage passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at Colonial Manor in Lakefield.
