Allan "Al" Virgil Kuehl was born on July 12, 1951, to Virgil and Arlene (Eiknes) Kuehl. He graduated from Heron Lake High School with the Class of 1969. He continued his education at Jackson Vocational School and received a degree in electronics. He worked various jobs throughout the years. He was a part-time police officer for the City of Heron Lake, he worked at gas stations, as a janitor, machinist, and at an auto parts store. Al had a love for animals. There was nothing truer in his world than the love Al had for his dogs. He cared for four German Shepherds-Schnapps, Belle, Xena and Onia. Al gave his whole heart to his dogs. Al's passion was drag racing. He owned and operated his own car, which he purchased new. He enjoyed working on his race cars. Allan is preceded in death by his father, Virgil Kuehl in 2000, and his beloved mother, Arlene Kuehl in 2011 In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations made in Allan's name to the local animal rescue, since his pets were one of his great loves.
