Allen Albert Meier, age 72, of Jeffers, passed away peacefully of cancer, on March 18, 2023, at the Good Samaritan Society in Windom.

Allen was born August 8, 1950, in Springfield, Minnesota, the son of Albert and Darlene Meier. Allen grew up in Jeffers, where he graduated in 1968 and briefly went to Minnesota West Community and Technical College in Jackson. Allen joined the U.S. Navy and served in the Vietnam War on the USS America, as a motor vehicle mechanic. After returning home, he operated a combine harvesting for Green Giant, and then spent many years working at the Springfield Power Plant.

Allen enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He also enjoyed riding his bicycle around town and eating and visiting with the locals at Jeffers Café. He liked going to auctions to look at vintage cars and tractors.

He is survived by his two brothers, Kenneth of Delft, MN and Michael of Butterfield, MN; two sisters, Karen (Norman) Smith of Chesapeake, VA, and Janine (Scott) Balthazor of Crosslake, MN; four nieces; one nephew; four grandnieces; and two grandnephews.

Allen was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Darlene; and sister- in-law, Charlotte Meier.

Allen will be remembered as a kind and gentle person.

A Celebration of Life Service for Allen Meier, age 72, of Jeffers, will be held Friday, March 24th at 10:00 A.M. at the Jeffers Baptist Church in Jeffers, with Pastor John Keck officiating. Burial will be at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Windom.  Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post #206 of Windom and the US Navy.

A time of visitation and gathering will be held Thursday, March 23rd from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the LaCanne Family Celebration of Life Center in Windom. Visitation will continue for one-hour prior to the service on Friday, March 24th at the Jeffers Baptist Church in Jeffers.
