Alton Morris Gohman was born on June 25, 1925, in Windom, Minnesota to the late Leo A. and Lillie (Foss) Gohman. He received his education in country schools around the Windom Area. From 1945-1950, Alton was a member of the Merchant Marines and made thirteen overseas trips. On August 6, 1950, Alton was united in marriage to Selma "Sally" Holt at the American Lutheran Church in Windom. This marriage was blessed with three children, David, Paul and John. For seventeen years, Alton farmed in the Windom Area. He then began working at TORO in Windom for the next twenty-three years until his retirement in 1991. After retiring, Alton and Sally continued to live in Windom and spent ten years living the winter months in Harlingen, TX. Alton will be remembered as a simple guy who enjoyed watching sports, especially football and the Twins, and walking for many miles. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. On Wednesday morning, September 10th, 2014, Alton passed away suddenly in his own home in Windom at the age of 89 years. Alton is survived by his wife of sixty-four years, Selma "Sally" Gohman of Windom; three children, David (Patti) Gohman of Orange City, IA; Paul Gohman of Windom; John (Shannon) Gohman of Inver Grove Heights; four grandchildren, Austin, Leah, Nathaniel and Andrew Gohman; three brothers, Loranzo Gohman of Worthington; DeLyle (Laura) Gohman of Cambridge; Leon (Pat) Gohman of Albany, GA; and several nieces and nephews. Alton is preceded in death by his parents; and an infant brother, Myron Gohman. Blessed be the memory of Alton M. Gohman.
