Alvin Walter Graff was born September 2, 1921 to Adolph and Alvina (Quiram) Graff at their home in rural Sanborn in Amboy Township. He was the youngest of 10 children. He grew up on the farm and was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Sanborn. Alvin attended District 45 country school "on the hill", he later attended parochial school in Sanborn. He was united in marriage to, the love of his life, Lorraine Caroline Christensen on January 9, 1945 at the Christ Lutheran Parsonage in Wanda. They recently celebrated their 75th Wedding Anniversary.Their marriage blessed them with five beautiful children; Jane, Merle, Mary, Glen and Arlan. Alvin was an active member in Trinity Lutheran Church in Jeffers and was on the church council and building committee. Alvin and Lorraine moved into the Maples in Springfield, Minnesota in September of 2019 and enjoyed it there very much. Recently, Alvin was hospitalized and passed away February 9, 2020 at Sanford Medical Center in Westbrook at the age of 98 years. Alvin enjoyed traveling with Lorraine to many foreign countries and all 50 states. They loved the travels, the people they met and the scenery. He also enjoyed going ballroom dancing every Sunday night in Worthington for over 30 years. Alvin and Lorraine also enjoyed playing cards within their three different clubs and spending time with their family. He is survived by his wife of 75 years, Lorraine Graff of Springfield, formerly of Jeffers; children, Jane (Gary) LaFollette of Nemo, SD; Mary (Don) Christopher of Letcher, SD; Glen (ValRee) Graff of Sanborn and Arlan (Sue) Graff of Northfield; daughter-in-law, Paulette (Terry) Weese of Buffalo; 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Alvin was preceded in death by his parents; son, Merle and nine siblings. Blessed be the memory of Alvin Walter Graff.
