A Celebration of Life Service for Anita Rhubee, age 90 of Windom and formerly of Jeffers, will be held Friday, December 12th at 10:00 AM at Jeffers United Methodist Church in Jeffers. Burial will be in Jeffers Cemetery.

A visitation for Anita will be held on Friday, December 12th for one hour prior to the service from 9:00 AM to 10:AM at the Jeffers United Methodist Church.

The service will be livestreamed on the Jeffers United Methodist Church Facebook page.

Anita Elsie (Oleson) Rhubee was born on December 6, 1934, in Storden Township, Cottonwood County, Minnesota to Elmer and Alice (Parker) Oleson. Anita attended Storden High School in Storden, Minnesota and graduated in the Class of 1952.

After graduation, Anita sailed to Fakenham, Norfolk, England on the RMS Queen Elizabeth, known as one of the world's largest and most luxurious ocean liners that provided weekly transatlantic travel. Upon arriving in England, Anita married Darrell Rhubee at the United States Air Force Base. She and Darrell lived in England for the next three years. In 1956, they returned home to Jeffers with their first child, Bruce, who was born on base in England. Their family grew with the births of Dixie and Michael, while living in the Jeffers area. In 1964, they moved to Whittemore, Iowa, where Todd and Kyle were born. Five years later, the family settled on the Rhubee family farm near Jeffers.

Anita was a warm, funny and steadfast mother who raised her five children with love and patience. She enjoyed tending her garden, cooking for family and friends, and celebrating the many accomplishments of her greatest joys—her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

A faithful and joyful member of the Jeffers United Methodist Church, Anita remained active there until 2014, when she moved to Mikkelson Manor in Windom. In 2022, she made her home at the Good Samaritan Society-Sogge Memorial in Windom, where she passed away peacefully on November 21, 2025, at the age of 90 years.

She will be dearly missed for her kindness, humor, and gentle spirit. Though Darrell was the syndicated cartoonist of the family, he got most of his humorous material from Anita.

Left to cherish her memory are her sister, Myrtle Rundell; children, Dixie (Steve) Severson of Winter Haven, FL, Michael Rhubee of Saint Paul, Todd (Wendy) Rhubee of Windom, and Kyle Rhubee of Jeffers; daughter-in-law, Jan Rhubee; seven grandchildren, Amber (Troy) Casey, Ashley (Matt) Metz, Brianna Bernard, Jed (Gretchen) Rhubee, Jake Severson (Andi), Preston Rhubee, and Patrick (Trista) Rhubee; ten great-grandchildren, Abby, Jack, Marshall, Wally, Piper, Tye, Eliza, Brinley, Rowan, and Jonah; and many nieces and nephews, including, Randa, Kris, Robbie, Linda, Diane, Bruce, Pat, Cathie, Sally, Kenny, Kelly and John; as well as other relatives and friends.

Anita was preceded in death by her parents, Alice and Elmer Oleson; her husband, Darrell Rhubee; son Bruce Rhubee; siblings, Elwood, Russell and Rusty Jr. Olsen and Annabel Volk; niece, Lindy Oleson Blair; and nephews, Russell Oleson, Jr. and Lyle Rundell.
