A Mass of Christian Burial to honor the life and legacy of Marie Schumann age 86, of Lakefield, will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Lakefield on Saturday, February 22nd at 10:30 AM with a time of visitation and gathering from 9:30 - 10:30 AM. Burial will be at the Lakefield City Cemetery Memorial Park in Lakefield.
Anna Marie (Fisher) Schumann was born to Henry and Adel (Vodraska) Fisher on November 15, 1938, in Milford, Iowa. Marie attended Minneota township #108 country school and later graduated from Spirit Lake High School in the Class of 1956.
On June 16, 1957, Marie was united in marriage to Clarence Schumann. This union was blessed with five children: Lee, Jay, Todd, Chris, and Mike.
Marie worked for thirty years as an office manager for the family business, Schumann Sales and Auction Service. Her most important and cherished job was being a loving mother to her five boys. Marie's faith was very important to her, volunteering at the church, and on the ladies serving group for funerals.
Marie enjoyed driving for Meals on Wheels, reading at Pleasantview Elementary, and being on the Colonial Manor Auxiliary. She also enjoyed bowling, being in the garden club, and frequent bus trips.
Marie Schumann passed away peacefully on Friday, February 14th, 2025, at Temperance Lake Ridge in Sherburn.
She is survived by her five children: Lee (Cheryl) of Kiester, Jay & Roz of Lakefield, Todd & Mary of Lakefield, Chris of Kiester, Mike & Carrie of Hutchinson; 12 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Roseann Fisher of Jacksonville, FL; and many nieces and nephews.
Marie is preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Clarence Schumann; Parents: Henry and Adel Fisher, brothers: Lyle (Millie) Fisher, Leroy (Vivian) Fisher, Kenny (Marlys) Fisher, Roger Fisher; parents-in-law: Ray and Francis Schumann.
Thank you to the Staff at Valley View Assisted Living, UHD Hospice, and Temperance Lake Ridge memory care for their love and kindness towards Marie over the last 3 years.
