Arlene Dorothea Maria Meier was born on September 1st, 1923, to Gustav and Emilia (Bade) Pohl. She grew up in Cottonwood County. Arlene was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Jeffers.
On April 9, 1947, she was united in marriage to John H. Meier at Trinity Lutheran Church in Jeffers. They worked for Earl Ewen west of Jeffers doing farm work until the fall of 1952 when they moved to Windom.
Once they moved to Windom, they became members of the American Lutheran Church where Arlene taught Sunday School and was a member in a circle. They later became members of Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Windom. Arlene worked at Winfair in the cafeteria for several years and then at TORO for short time.
In her final years, she lived at Heritage House/Pine View Assisted Living in Windom and then at the Good Samaritan Society-Sogge Memorial in Windom where she passed away on Friday evening, January 21st, 2022, at the age of 98 years.
Arlene enjoyed snowmobiling and writing letters to her brothers in the service. She also enjoyed spending time with her nephews and nieces.
She is survived by many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
Arlene is preceded in death by her parents; Gustav and Emilia, her husband John who passed on January 5, 1994, siblings, Edward, Alfred, Louis, George, Albert, Carl and Lester Pohl, Agnes Arends, Esther Barker, Elfrieda DeHarpporte and Adonna Evers.
