Arlene Malvina Mittelstadt, age 79, passed away on July 20, 2015 at Good Samaritan Home in Windom, MN. She is the daughter of John and Ida (Ristau) Richter and was born in 1936 on her parent's farm in Delafield Township, Jackson County, MN. She was received into the Christian faith through holy baptism on May 3, 1936 and reaffirmed her baptismal covenant with her lord on April 2, 1950. She received her early education at St. Peters Lutheran Parochial School and graduated from Lakefield High School in 1954. She was bookkeeper at Windom State Bank before her marriage to Alvin Mittelstadt on October 21, 1956 at St Peters Lutheran Church, rural Lakefield, MN. They farmed in Alba and West Heron Lake townships, Jackson County, MN, until they retired from farming in 1997 and moved into Windom, MN. Over the years, Arlene was active in her church as a Sunday School and bible school teacher and held various offices of Our Redeemer Lutheran Ladies Aid and Okabena Legion Auxiliary. During retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her family, crocheting, and wintering in Arizona with her husband, Alvin for eighteen years. They also were able to travel to all fifty states. Her loving family includes her husband Alvin of Windom, children: Brad (Evon) Mittelstadt of Edgerton, MN, Doug (Sharon) Mittelstadt of North Mankato, MN, daughter-in-law, Debby Mittelstadt of Rosemount, MN, and Lona (Dan) Rookaird of New Prague, MN. Also surviving are nine grandchildren: Derek (Mandy) Mittelstadt, Edgerton, MN, Dawn (Brian) Erdmann, West Fargo, ND, Nathan (Katie) Mittelstadt, Mankato, MN, Jessica (Eric) Stenzel, North Mankato, MN, Lindsey (John) Larson, Ryan Mittelstadt, all of Rosemount, MN, Taylor Rookaird, Des Moines, IA, Sara, and Kyle Rookaird both of New Prague, MN. Great Grandchildren include Devin and Tanner Erdmann, West Fargo, ND, Mikaela, Cody and Brooke Stenzel, North Mankato, MN, and Isaac and Luke Mittelstadt of Mankato, MN. She is also survived by three sister-in-laws, Florence Richter of Windom, Norma Richter of Council Bluffs, IA and Doris Richter of Sioux Falls, SD, and a host of nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Craig, and four brothers, Arnold, Leonard, Milton, and Wilmer Richter.
