A Celebration of Life Service to honor the life and legacy of Arlo Engler, age 86, of Windom, will be held Wednesday, November 5th at 11:00 AM at the American Lutheran Church in Windom. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Windom.
A visitation for Arlo will be held on Tuesday, November 4th from 4:00-6:00 PM at the LaCanne Family Celebration of Life Center in Windom. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, November 5th at the American Lutheran Church in Windom for one hour prior to the service.
Arlo Wayne Engler was born on September 6, 1939, in Rosehill Township, Cottonwood County, Minnesota to the late Elder and Mildred (Kuehl) Engler. He was baptized at a young age at the First Trinity Lutheran Church in Rosehill Township and let confirmed in that same church. Arlo received his early education in country school and later graduated from Westbrook High School in the Class of 1957.
Arlo was united in marriage to Marlene Sell at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Windom. This marriage would be blessed with two children, Dale and Darla. For 38 years, Arlo worked at the TORO company in Windom as a millwright until retiring in 2001. After his retirement, Arlo and Marlene continued to live Windom. Recently, Arlo's health had been declining, and he passed away suddenly at Windom Area Health in Windom on October 30, 2025, at the age of 86 years.
Arlo was member of the American Lutheran Church in Windom where he ushered. He also was involved in the community with delivering Meal on Wheels, Active in F.O.E. (The Fraternal Order of Eagles) where he was president, he also was a member and on the board of the Windom Country Club. Arlo also had many enjoyments in life which included golfing, fishing, deer, duck and pheasant hunting, spending time with great grandkids, traveling across country with grandchildren and Marlene, taking pictures where he captured anything and everything experienced.
Arlo is survived by his wife of 64 years, Marlene Engler of Windom; two children, Dale (Dana) Engler of Palmdale, CA; Darla (Greg) Jurgens of Windom; 5 grandchildren, Jon, Joe, Jamie, Matthew and Ryan; seven great-grandchildren; and brother-in-law, Arlo (Pat) Sell of Windom.
Arlo is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gene (Joan) Engler; infant nephew, Bruce Engler; Marlene's parent's, William and Johanna Sell; and brothers-in-law, DuWaine (Norma) Sell and Glen (Twila) Mattison.
