Arnold "Arnie" Sogge was born on April 4, 1917, southwest of Bergen, Minnesota to the late Albert Oscar and Barbara (Eggen) Sogge. He was baptized in Windom and received his education in country school in rural Bergen. He served his country honorably in the United State military. On March 4, 1939, Arnie was united in marriage to Genevieve E. Goulda in Windom. This marriage was blessed with one son, Richard. After marriage, Arnie and Genevieve lived in Windom and Arnie made drain tile for years. From 1964 until 1980, Arnie was the owner/operator of Windom Concrete Products where they made building blocks. Genevieve passed away on July 24, 1983. After her death, Arnie remained in Windom up until December of last year when he moved to be with Mary and Mike Krumwiede in Bingham Lake. He received wonderful care from the whole Krumwiede family and they thought of him as their grandpa and great-grandpa. On April 30, 2008, after a courageous battle with leukemia, Arnie passed away at Mary and Mike's home at the wonderful age of 91 years. Arnie was a member of the Sun Valley Gun Club, the American Legion Post 206, Game and Fish, and Pheasants Forever. Arnie will be remembered for many wonderful things in life including his enjoyment of coin collecting, gardening, trapshooting, playing pool, bowling, spending time at "Dino's Diner and Truck Stop", and sitting in his car at Cottonwood Lake and the Des Moines River watching the geese. Arnie's dedicated family who mourns his loss includes one son, Richard "Dick" Sogge and wife, Karen (Fast) of Apple Valley; two grandsons, Randy Sogge and wife, Cathy, of Lakeville; Todd Sogge and wife, Bonnie, of Eagan; five great-grandchildren, Natalie and William Sogge of Lakeview; Madison, Samantha, and Henry "Hank" Sogge of Eagan; caretakers and best friends, Mary and Mike Krumwiede of Bingham Lake; and several nieces and nephews. Arnie is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Genevieve Sogge; one brother, Albin Sogge; four sisters, Gladys Defries, Blanche Smith, Mildred Hromataka, and Berniece Buck.
