Arthur "Art" Carl Swanson Jr. passed away peacefully on November 2, 2025, at the age of 91 at Sunset Cottage in Worthington, Minnesota. Art was born on February 22, 1934, to the late Carl Arthur Swanson Sr. and Elsie Brumm in Lakefield, Minnesota.
Art grew up learning the ways of agriculture from his father. Art's commitment to agriculture was unwavering, and he continued his love of the land by gardening after retiring from farming. His other work history included; farm supply store co-owner, commercial bus driver, Winnebago camper delivery driver, and most recently, full time associate at Walmart in Spirit Lake, Iowa.
Art married Millicent Kay Bares on April 11, 1965. Together they raised a family that was both loving and close-knit. Art and Millie made sure to instill the values of hard work, education, and the importance of family in Brenda, Dawn, Corey, and Chad.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Millicent Swanson, children, Brenda Fischer, Dawn (Darren) Johnson, Corey (Danyelle) Swanson, and Chad (Dee) Swanson; Grandchildren, Colin (Hannah) Fischer, Kaitlin (Cody) Fischer, Jackson (Marlee) Fischer, Ashley (Eric) Nagel, Andrea (Dave) Nelson, Carissa (Wade) Chambers, Jayden Montz, Logan Swanson, Seth Swanson, and Luke Swanson. Art's legacy continued to grow with the arrival of his cherished great-grandchildren, Brielle, Reagen, Greysen, Caeden, Sheridan, Everett, Jonathan, Blakely, and August; Siblings, Alice Carrigan, Jeanette (Dick) Garceau, Edna (Kurt) Anderson, Alvin (Rosemary) Swanson and sister in law Marlys Swanson. He was preceded in death by his siblings Inez (Melvin) Rossow, Ida (Arnold) Burmeister, and Jim Swanson.
