Barbara Joyce Quarve, age 86 of Windom died on December 15, 2020 due to complications from COVID-19.
Barbara was born on January 4, 1934, in Fulda to the late Oscar and Claire Carlson. She was baptized and confirmed into the Catholic Faith. Barbara received her early education in Fulda later moving with the family to Heron Lake and graduating from Heron Lake High School in the Class of 1952.
After living in other parts of the United States for over twenty-years, Barbara returned to home to Windom to be with her many cherished high school friends and her family. She made many friends wherever she lived.
Barbara was a beloved, sister, mother and grandmother. Her children and grandchildren were the center of her world. She was a generous, loving, mother and grandmother to her three children, five grandchildren, and one great grandchild. She will be remembered for her great faith in the Lord, her sense of humor, helping others through her volunteer work in the community, and great love of conversation, books, food, and shopping. Barbara had an outgoing, vivacious personality who loved to laugh, share stories, play card games and spend time with her family and friends. She was loved and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Barbara is survived by her three children, Brad Hartberg (Cindy) of Tucson, AZ; Karen Geiser (Kurt) of Maplewood, MN; Chris Hartberg (Jenny) of Windom; five beautiful grandchildren, Zachary, Jessica, Avery, Sarah and Emily; one great-grandson, Kane; one brother Richard (Carolyn) Carlson of Mundelein, IL; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Norton Quarve; one sister, Joanne Follett; one brother, Donald Carlson; sister-in-law Fran Carlson; and nephew, Donald Carlson, Jr.
