Blanche Mary (Swenson) Hanson was born on November 21, 1924, in Delafield Township, Minnesota to Abraham and Rose (Kalash) Swenson. Blanche was received into the Christian faith through Baptism and was a member of the former Hauges Lutheran Church near Bergen. She received her education in rural Jackson County and graduated from Windom High School in 1943.
On October 31, 1948, Blanche was united in marriage to Lloyd Hanson in Jackson, Minnesota. They made their home in Bergen until 1961, when they moved to their present home in Christiania Township. Together, Lloyd and Blanche farmed, did custom corn shelling and trucking.
Blanche was a member of American Lutheran Church where she was always willing to serve. She enjoyed life on the farm, current events, polka music, stock car races at Jackson, visiting with friends and her pheasant hunters. Most of all, Blanche loved to be involved in the lives of her children.
Blanche passed away on Saturday, December 5, 2009 at her home in rural Windom at the age of 85.
She is survived by three children, Bruce Hanson and his special friend, Lori, of East Gull Lake, Pamela Koch and her husband, Michael, of Conroe, TX, and Tracye Hanson of St. Cloud; four grandsons: Darren and Eric Hanson; and Jarrett and Benjamin Koch; one sister, Hazel Swenson of Windom; one sister-in-law, Nora Kalash of Windom; other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lloyd; three brothers, Aldo, Clarence and Robert Swenson; and one sister, Grace Hoelscher.
