Iris LaVonne (Amsden) Bottin was born on February 19, 1932, to Dennie and Edith Evelyn (Hagerman) Amsden, on the farm in Comfrey, MN. She quickly acquired the name "Bonnie", when her siblings could not say her name. Bonnie was baptized and confirmed at the Jeffers Baptist Church in Jeffers, MN. She attended Comfrey Elementary School and continued her education at Comfrey High School, graduating with the class of 1950. On August 26, 1950, Bonnie wed Marvin Arthur Bottin at the Jeffers Baptist Church. The marriage was blessed with two sons, Michael and Douglas and a daughter, Brenda Lea. Bonnie led a very spiritual life and was active in her church community, especially as a Circle Member. She was quiet, yet influential among her family and community. She had a knack for suggesting things to her husband, "Bo", to help him make "his decision". Marv and Bonnie worked well together on the farm, despite his gregarious personality and her quiet nature. Bonnie took great pride in caring for her lawn, mowing and always picking up sticks. She was extremely organized and filled every nook and cranny with all things that were special to her, and she loved to shop. She enjoyed basking in the sun with a big hat on. She walked miles and miles for exercise. Her grandchildren were very important, and she loved watching their activities. She was a baseball fan, especially for the Moon Dogs minor league team and closely followed the American Lutheran Church softball team. Bonnie was employed with the First National Bank-Insurance Co. and was a bookkeeper at McDonald's in Windom until 1975. She also kept books for Marv's cattle operation. Bonnie was called home by the Heavenly Father on Tuesday, March 8, 2022, as a resident at the Living Meadows at Luther in Madelia. Bonnie is survived by her sons, Michael (Sally) Bottin of Madelia, MN, and Douglas (Staci) Bottin of Madelia, MN; son-in-law, Tom Meyer of Butterfield; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and one sister, Arlene Carter of Springfield, MN. Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Bottin (1/27/14); daughter, Brenda Lea Meyer; parents, Dennie & Edith; brothers, Stanley and Mervin; and sister Ardyce Miller. A Celebration of Life Service for Bonnie Bottin, age 90, of Madelia, formerly of Windom will be held on Saturday, March 19th at 10:30 AM at the American Lutheran Church in Windom, with Pastor Sarah Larsen Tade` officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Windom. Visitation and a time of gathering will be held prior to the service on Saturday, March 19th from 9:00-10:30 a.m. at the American Lutheran Church in Windom. The Celebration of Life Service will be livestreamed on the American Lutheran Church Facebook page and YouTube channel. Bonnie passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 8th at the Living Meadows at Luther in Madelia.
