Caleb Matthew Hanson was born on November 21, 1980 in Norman County, Minnesota and came to his adoptive family on April 16, 1981. He was dedicated to the Lord when he was a year old. Caleb loved growing up on the farm with the pets, pigs and machinery and following in his dad's steps. Caleb completed kindergarten at the Mountain Lake Christian School before the family moved to Cambridge, Minnesota in 1987. There, he attended Chadaschay Christian School through the third grade and then Cambridge Elementary. In 1991, the family moved to Faribault, Minnesota for a year before returning to Windom where he returned to the Mt. Lake Christian School; graduating in the Class of 1999. After graduating, Caleb worked for Steve Dick at KBQ and then did long distance hauling, working at the Cottonwood County Landfill and the Dundee Bar before becoming co-owner/operator of PJ's II in Bingham Lake. After several years, he sold his portion of the business. In October of 2014, he joined SVE (Scott Veenker Enterprises) and worked for Scott until this past January. At that time, Caleb became an employee of the Windom Street Department and was there until the present time. On September 13, 2014, Caleb was united in marriage to Erica Lynn Vock at the Mark Behrends home in Jackson County. They made their home in Windom. Through the years, Caleb enjoyed giving gifts and his time to others and would help anyone when needed. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, grilling and smoking meat and being part of the Wicked Fast Drag Racing Team. He especially enjoyed spending time and having fun with Dalton, Saije and family. Caleb had been struggling with depression and on Wednesday, June 12, 2019, he took his own life at the age of 38 years. Caleb is survived by his wife, Erica Hanson of Windom; two children, Dalton Haken and Saije Galer of Windom; brother, Christopher M. Hanson of Columbia Heights; parents, C. Michael and Susan A. Hanson of Bingham Lake; father-in-law, Skip and Michele Vock of Rapid City, SD; mother-in-law, Brenda and Todd Miller of Delft; grandparents-in-law, Nancy "Nannie" Vock of Windom and Larry and Ruth Smith of Windom; three aunts, Cheryl Hanson of Windom; Joan and Kenton Miller of Colorado; Nancy Maus of Florida; sisters and brothers-in-law, Kristel and Travis Marsh of Delft; Bianca and Jason Noble of Rapid City, SD; Brandi and Mike Jangula of Dickinson, ND; Brock and Jen Schimbeno of Bozeman, MT; Jared and Kharla Vock of Rapid City, SD; aunts and uncles-in-law, Peggy and Mark Behrends and their daughter, Courtney Behrends and her son, Colton Behrends all of Windom; Greg and Colette Smith of Windom and their daughter, Harlie and her daughter, Brylie of Hutchinson; Frank Vock and family of Windom; Karen and Richard Powdrill of Porter, TX; godparents, Woody and Tary Johnson of Windom; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and pets. Caleb is preceded in death by his grandparents, C. Martin and Bonnabel Hanson and Donald and Marion Palmer; an infant sister, Amy Michelle Hanson and cousin-in-law, Marcus Behrends.
