A Celebration of Life Service for Carol Corwin, age 84, of Windom, will be held Friday, April 12th, at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Windom, with Pastor Pam Prouty officiating. Burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery in Windom, MN.

A time of visitation and gathering will be held on Thursday, April 11th from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at the LaCanne Family Celebration of Life Center in Windom, MN, and will continue for one hour prior to the service on Friday, April 12th, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., at the First Presbyterian Church in Windom.

Carol Corwin passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 31, 2024, at Pineview Assisted Living in Windom, MN.

Carol Marie (Swanson) Corwin was born to Clarence and Ruth (Priebe) Swanson on April 24, 1939. She was baptized and confirmed in the First Presbyterian Church in Slayton, Minnesota. Carol graduated from Slayton High School in 1957 and received her Registered Nurse diploma from Northwestern Hospital School of Nursing in 1960.

Carol married Larry Corwin on August 23, 1959 at the First Presbyterian Church in Slayton, Minnesota. Carol and Larry had four children, Dawn, Vaughn, Shane, and Wade.

While Larry was in the Air Force, the family moved frequently, living in Minnesota, North Dakota, the Philippines, Nevada, and Arizona. Carol also lived with the children in Minnesota on four different occasions, while Larry was stationed in Alaska (twice), the Philippines, and Okinawa. The family moved to Windom, Minnesota in 1977, when Larry retired from the Air Force. Larry passed away on October 30, 1993.

Carol had a 40-year career as a nurse, including 23 years at the Windom Area Hospital. Throughout her nursing career, she worked in general duty, ER, obstetrics, nursery, and pediatrics, but she preferred the ER. She was known as a very skilled nurse, who was very caring and enjoyed helping others.

Carol was actively involved in the community, including as a hospice volunteer, a BARC education council member, a council member for the retired seniors volunteer program, and a Red Cross volunteer teaching Basic Aid Training to 4th graders, which she did for over 25 years. She enjoyed working on genealogy, reading, camping, painting, cake decorating, and especially travelling. She particularly enjoyed spending time with family and spoiling her beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Carol passed away on Sunday, March 31st in Windom, Minnesota at the age of 84. She will be dearly missed.

Carol is survived by her four children, Dawn Maznio, Vaughn Corwin and wife Traci, Shane Corwin and wife Sarah, and Wade Corwin; brother Joel Swanson and wife Bev; sister Linda Sanow and husband Larry; sister-in-law Neva Swanson; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; and many more friends and relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Larry, brother David Swanson, and great grandson Andrew Glidden.

To Those I Love

When I am gone, just release me, let me go – so I can move into my afterglow.

You mustn't tie me down with your tears; let's be happy that we had so many years.

I gave you my love, you can only guess how much you gave me in happiness.

I thank you for the love you each have shown, but now it's time I traveled on alone.

So grieve for me awhile, if grieve you must, then let your grief be comforted with trust.

It's only for a while that we must part, so bless the memories within your heart.

And then, when you must come this way alone, I'll greet you with a smile and a "Welcome Home."

Because Carol believed that life doesn't end at death, the rest is "To Be Continued…"
