Obituary

A Celebration of Life Service for Charles "Chuck" Bergmann, age 75, of rural Lakefield, will be Friday, June 7, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lakefield with Pastor David McDonald officiating. Burial will be at a later date.

A time of visitation and gathering will be held on Thursday, June 6, 2024, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at Immanuel Lutheran church in Lakefield. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the service, from 10:00 – 11:00 AM, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Lakefield. Military Honors will be provided by the Swen-Rasmussen American Legion Post #4 and the Hanson-Ward VFW Post #4743.

Charles Ronald Bergmann was born on July 10, 1948, to Orville and Irma (Berndt) Bergmann in Mankato, Minnesota. He was baptized, and later confirmed into the Christian faith at Trinity Church in Janesville, Minnesota. He attended elementary school at Trinity Lutheran School and graduated from Janesville High School.

Following graduation Chuck enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He served two years overseas in Vietnam before being honorably discharged and returning home.

Chuck was united in marriage to Lola Mae Prochaska on December 17, 1993.

Chuck worked for Mosley's Plumbing and Heating for many years. Plumbing allowed him to meet many new people and he was known by many. In 2014, Chuck retired at the age of 65. Chuck loved to do any kind of work and was also a hobby farmer. He was a lifelong member of the American Legion Post #130 in Jackson, Minnesota.

Chuck Bergmann passed away peacefully on May 27, 2024, at his home in rural Lakefield, Minnesota.

Chuck is survived by his wife of 30 years, Lola Bergmann; children, Dawn (David) Vancura of Jackson and Danielle (Brent) Pavelko of Lakefield; son-in-law, Jared Lesch of Lakefield; stepchildren, Tami (Steve) Madison of Vallejo, CA and Steve (Christina) Anderson of Kenosha, WI; siblings, Audrey (Frank) Quam of Janesville, Karen Struck of Janesville, Beverly (Roger) Larson of Forest Lake, Wallace (Karen) Bergmann of Normal, IL, Peter (Maureen) Bergmann of St. Frances, Rachel (Robert) Wagner of Le Sueur, Irene (James) Mulcahey of Janesville, Joan (Brian) Alger of Minneapolis, Robert (Julie) Bergmann of Johannesburg, South Africa, Carol Steinberg of Janesville, as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives and friends.

Chuck is preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Irma Bergmann; daughter Shelly Lesch; sister Charlotte Bergmann; an infant brother James Bergmann; brothers-in-law, Garey Struck and Scott Steinberg.
