Charles "Chuck" Melvin Severson was born on September 10, 1936, in Windom, Minnesota, to Melvin and Tina (Penner) Severson. He received his education by attending Windom Area Public Schools and graduating in the class of 1954. After high school, Chuck was drafted into the United States Army where he was stationed in Germany for two years. After being honorably discharged from the United States Army, Chuck returned to Windom and started working at the Cottonwood County Highway Department. On April 1, 1961, Chuck was united in marriage to Evangeline "Vangie" Deibert at the American Lutheran Church in Windom. This marriage was blessed with one son, Lee. Chuck and Vangie lived in Windom, where Chuck continued to work for Cottonwood County Highway Department until retiring in 1998. After retirement, Chuck was a Cottonwood County Commissioner for six years. Charles was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Windom where he sang in the Men's Choir and Senior Choir. He was also a member of the Windom Chordhustlers along with numerous quartets. Chuck was also an avid Minnesota Vikings fan. Spending time and traveling with Vangie and Lee was very important to Chuck. He loved his family dearly. He attended the Hardee's coffee group a few times a week to stay caught up on the news of Windom. He is survived by his son, Lee of Windom, and numerous cousins. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Vangie and parents, Melvin and Tina. Blessed be the memory of Charles "Chuck" Severson
