Charlotte "Char" Meier passed away on Friday, October 8, 2021, surrounded by her family, at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD. Charlotte Kay Meier was born to Alfred and Jeanette (Eichner) Solomonson on September 11, 1951, in Westbrook, Minnesota. She was baptized on October 7, 1951 at the Grace Lutheran Church in Westbrook. Char attended elementary school in Westbrook. She later moved to Windom, MN and graduated from Windom High School with the class of 1969. After high school, Char worked at Toro for a short time and other jobs, until getting a job with the Good Samaritan Society-Mountain Lake. For the past two years, she participated in the "Adopt a Grandparent" program through Winfair Elementary, in Windom, and she enjoyed seeing the kids. She met Kenneth "Ken" Meier and was married on August 25, 1972 at Jeffers Baptist Church in rural Jeffers. The marriage was blessed with two children, Patricia "Trish" and Andrew. Char enjoyed flower gardening with her kids and grandkids. She loved shopping with her daughter, and often ended up in a flower shop. Every year, Andrew would help Char bring flowers in the winter and put them out in the spring. She would watch NASCAR Racing with Andrew and her grandson, Austin. Char would help Trish with embroidery and loved giving gifts to her friends and family. She collected shot glasses from family and friends' travels. Char loved supporting her grandkids in their activities. She especially enjoyed attending cross country meets to watch her granddaughter, Emma, and the March figuring skating ice show to watch her granddaughter, Madison. She loved spending time with family and friends. Char's health recently declined, and she was taken to the hospital in Sioux falls on October 7th and she passed away October 8th with her family by her side. Char leaves behind her precious family and her dogs, Lady, Karma, and Daisy. Char is survived by her husband of 49 years, Kenneth "Ken" Meier of Delft; daughter, Patricia (James) Holtz and their children, Emma, Madison and Austin of Bingham Lake; son, Andrew Meier of Delft; sister, Marla (Brett) Nybo of Minnetonka and their children, Morgan and Hayley; two sisters-in-law, Karen (Norman) Smith of Chesapeake, VA and their children, Angela, Joy, and Kara; Janine (Scott) Balthzor of Brooklyn Park; two brothers-in-law, Allen Meier of Jeffers and Mike Meier of Butterfield; and several nieces and nephews. Char is preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Jeanette; daughter, Jeanette Marie; brother, Ronald Solomonson; sister, Monica Solomonson; mother and father in law, Darlene and Albert Meier; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
