Christine "Chris" Karen (Nelson) Rasmussen was born on February 3, 1959, in Windom, Minnesota to the late Duane and Marcia (Graff) Nelson. Christine was baptized at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Windom. Chris attended Worthington Area Public Schools and later received her GED. Christine met Gene Yackley and the two were married. This union blessed them with two boys: Jeremy and Joshua. This marriage was later dissolved. Later in life, Chris met the love of her life Wesley Rasmussen. On September 24, 1993, the two were married and Wesley became a wonderful stepdad to the boys. Throughout Christine's life, her passion was clear, helping others. She really loved her career as an in-home health care giver to many people throughout the community. She became friends with most of the people she took care of, and she cherished every moment being able to help others. She often did puzzles with the ones she was caring for which created a bond that was unlike any other. Chris would have her diet Mt. Dew and the other person would have coffee and they would chat about life, hopes and dreams and before they knew it the puzzle was completed. Chris was a true inspiration to everyone she met. Chris loved music, people, and plants. She had a garden around her house with plants that she was very proud of. Games, board games, card games and dice games were some of Chris's favorite pastimes. Another favorite game was Name That Group. When a song would come on the radio Chris, Gina and Wes would try to name the group. Gina and Wes never stood a chance against Chris. She knew her music. Spending time with family was important to her, especially her grandson, Seth. She was known to spoil him because that's what Nana's do!!! Christine passed away peacefully at her home in Windom surrounded by family on Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at the age of 62 years. Left to cherish Christine's everlasting memory is her loving husband, Wesley of Windom; two sons, Jeremy Yackley of Windom, and Joshua (Meagan) Yackley of Marshall; grandson, Seth Yackley of Windom; brothers, Jeffrey (Kelly) Nelson of Worthington, Scott (Kelly Jo) Nelson of Hutchinson, Robert (Tracy) Nelson of Mounds View, Troy (Gina) Nelson of Windom; Stepfather, Frank Nelson and many, many friends that she met throughout her life. Christine is preceded in death by her parents, Duane and Marcia and brother, Nicholas Nelson.
