A Celebration of Life Service for Doug Madsen, age 64, of Brewster, will be held at the LaCanne Family Celebration of Life Center of Jackson, on Wednesday, March 25th, 2026, at 11:00 AM, with a time of visitation and gathering for one hour prior to the service. Military Honors will be provided by Sievert – Peterson American Legion Post #608.

Doug passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 18th, 2026, at home surrounded by his family.

We gather to remember and celebrate the life of Clarence Douglas Madsen, a man who believed a day didn't truly begin until the chores were done, an orange pop was in hand, and at least one piece of machinery had tested his patience. Doug was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, a proud father, and a lifelong hog and crop farmer who could read the sky, the soil, and sometimes even the livestock — though he trusted his own forecast more than the one on TV.

Farming wasn't just his job — it was his way of life. He spent countless hours in the fields and proudly farmed alongside his brother Gary, Gary's sons, and his own son Peyton, who helped him carry on the family tradition. Whether planting, harvesting, fixing equipment, or debating the "right" way to do things, those days together were an important part of his life. Doug was convinced tractors ran better when he was the one driving them and that hogs behaved better when they knew who their boss was. He believed rain would come at the least convenient time and that a clean pair of boots was a sure sign you hadn't worked hard enough.

Doug also proudly served his country in the military, carrying that same toughness and determination into everything he did. If something needed to be done, he did it — and if there was a harder way to do it, he might just choose that one to prove he could.

He was known for his stubborn streak and his strong opinions. He didn't always see eye to eye with his kids, but he remained a steady presence who showed love in practical ways — fixing what was broken, offering advice whether it was asked for or not, and reminding everyone that a "quick job" was rarely quick.

In his quieter pastimes, Doug could be found fishing, listening to YouTube videos, Wordscapes, or watching episodes of The Big Bang Theory. He enjoyed the simple comfort of familiar routines and the humor he found in everyday moments. He could spend hours by the water, patiently waiting and telling stories that seemed to grow taller with each retelling, always finding a way to make everyone laugh along the way.

Doug is survived by his loving wife, Konnie Madsen; son Peyton Madsen (Vanessa); bonus daughters Holly Rademacher (Christian) and Shelby Rademacher (Nathan); cherished granddaughter, Charlee Hansen; mother Marie Madsen; brothers Greg (Toni) Madsen, Gary (Jody) Madsen, and Darian (Lana) Madsen; and sisters Chris (Mike) Grover and Linda (Rick) Sczublewski. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and other family and friends who will remember his dry humor, determination, and lifelong dedication to farming.

He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Madsen, as well as his grandparents, many uncles, and aunts.

Doug will be deeply missed, fondly remembered, and no doubt still blamed when a tractor won't start, the rain shows up early, or the fish simply refuse to bite.
