Clarlyn May Green, the daughter of Bernard and Effie (Zylstra) Rutgers was born on May 25, 1932 in Worthington, MN. She attended country school and Brewster High School, graduating in 1950. After graduation she began working at the Worthington Hospital. Clarlyn was united in marriage to Owen Green on June 18, 1952 and moved to the Mt. Lake, MN area. For several years after marriage, she worked at the hospital in Comfrey, MN. Owen and Clarlyn stayed in the Mt. Lake area where they lived, farmed, and raised their three children. They retired from farming in 1996 and in 1997 they moved to Windom, MN. Clarlyn was an active member in the Mountain Lake Christian Reformed Church. When it closed, they attended the Windom Evangelical Free Church. She was a member of White Cross and completed many sewing projects for White Cross Missions. She volunteered for many years at the Good Samaritan Home in Mt. Lake and the Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) in Windom including 10 years at Winfair Elementary School. She has always enjoyed baking, gardening, flowers, crocheting, sewing and helping others. Clarlyn passed away Tuesday morning, June 11th, 2019, at her daughter, Mary's home in Mountain Lake, MN. Those left to cherish her memories are her three children, Elaine (Richard) Batzlaff from Plymouth, MN, Stanley (Sallie) Green from Willmar, MN, and Mary (Mark) Kispert from Mt. Lake, MN; seven grandchildren, Philip (Angela) Batzlaff, Matthew Batzlaff, Mindy Green, Anna Green, Daniel (Julie) Green, Michael Kispert, and Margaret Kispert; seven great-grandchildren, David, Lily, Allison, Dmarko, Derek, Henry, and Owen. Other survivors include her three brothers, Richard Rutgers, Garet (Janis) Rutgers and Myron Rutgers; one sister, Lois Brink; and sister-in-law Vonnie Rutgers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Owen, in January of 2019; her parents; an infant brother; a sister, Joann; brothers John Rutgers, Harold Rutgers; and sisters-in-law, Dorothy Rutgers, Clarice Rutgers, Rena Rutgers, and Pat Rutgers.
