In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorial gifts are preferred in Connie's memory to support Parkinson's research.
Connie Kay (Nelson) Redding was born on August 2, 1943, to LaVerne and Pansy (Engler) Nelson at her home, on the farm, in Storden, Minnesota. Connie was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Westbrook, Minnesota. She received her education at Westbrook Public Schools, graduating in the class of 1961. Connie continued her education at Mankato State College for one year.
After attending college, Connie worked as a secretary for several insurance companies in downtown Minneapolis. On May 2, 1964, she married Bob Nerhus. The marriage was blessed with three children, Scott, Mark and Kirsten. The couple later returned to Windom where Connie enjoyed living in the country and was a homemaker who loved cooking and entertaining for family and friends. She loved playing bridge and spending time golfing with friends. Connie and Robert's marriage was later dissolved.
On February 17, 1990, Connie married James "Jim" Redding in Windom, and Connie was blessed with two adult stepsons, Matt and Bill. Connie and Jim loved traveling and enjoyed many cruises that allowed them to see many exciting island destinations. They moved to Marco Island, Florida and later lived in Port Charlotte, Florida until Jim's passing.
Connie gracefully managed the devastating effects of Parkinson's disease for more than 15 years. After Jim's passing, she moved to McKinney, Texas to live with Mark and Sarah's family, and in August 2024, she moved into The Oxford Grand Assisted Living in McKinney. On February 26th Connie passed away peacefully at The Oxford Grand at the age of 81 years.
Left to cherish her memory, are her children, Mark (Sarah) Nerhus of McKinney, TX, and Kirsten (Scott) Staples of Hutchinson; stepsons, Matt (Kari) Redding of Mendota Heights, and Bill Redding of Eden Prairie; eight grandchildren, Jacob, Sophie, Zachary, Haley, Alex, Bridget, Emma and Devin; sisters, Sanjia Restorff of Eden Prairie, and Jill (Tom) Lundberg of Rochester; sisters-in-law, Ivah Nelson of Owatonna and Gene Clark of Windom/Sioux Falls, SD; as well as many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Connie was preceded in death by her husband, James "Jim" Redding; infant son, Scott Nerhus; parents, LaVerne and Pansy Nelson; brother, James Nelson; parents-in-law, Gladden and Mary Jane Redding; brothers-in-law, Herb Restorff and Howard Clark.
Blessed be the memory of Connie Kay Redding.
