Obituary

Corinne Lois (Carrigan) Hohenstein also known as Bubbles to many, was born November 9, 1929, in Lakefield, MN, in the house just north of the Ag Center, to Charles Custer and Helen Gertrude (Van Dam) Carrigan, the last of 11 children. She was baptized in the family home. She grew up in Lakefield, graduating from high school in 1947. She worked for Paul Wiese Insurance for 3 years. She was confirmed in the Lutheran faith and married Leo Walter Hohenstein on May 28, 1950, at St. Peter Lutheran Church. They farmed on the home place where she resided for 47 years. Leo passed away October 25, 1994. Corinne (Bubbles) passed away at the age of 92 years, at Valley View Assisted Living on April 2, 2022, where she had resided for the past 6 months. Corinne was active in her church; singing in choir for over 40 years, holding offices in Ladies Aid, headed many committees, helped make banners and quilts, taught and helped at Vacation Bible School, and was a delegate several times to LWML conventions. After moving to town in 1997, she delivered Meals on Wheels and became a Colonial Manor Auxiliary member and volunteer. She was also a "happy member" of the Friendly Garden Club and had many good times with other members. She enjoyed listening to all kinds of music, reading history books (especially about WWII), spending time with friends, and (when able) bowling and golfing. In her later years, she enjoyed coloring and would catch herself still at the kitchen table at 2 a.m. working on it! She really loved living on a farm after growing up a "city girl", and had many "adventures" with cows, ducks, chickens and more. And always had vegetables to preserve and sweet corn to freeze. Her favorite season was the Fall and she made yearly trips to her daughter's (up north) to go leaf watching. Her proudest accomplishments, of course, were her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She had much love for them all. Over the years, many sports events, concerts, dance recitals or plays were attended to keep up with them all. Corinne is survived by daughters, Lynn (Mike) Bjorklund of Sandstone, MN and Lisa (Brian) Dauffenbach of Lakefield; sons, Leigh (Catherine) Hohenstein of Lakefield, Lon (Patti) Hohenstein of Lakefield and Lance Hohenstein of Lakefield. Thirteen grandchildren: Erik (Sonja) Bjorklund, Ethan (Nicole) Bjorklund, John Hohenstein, Lucas (Laura) Hohenstein, Grant Hohenstein, Heather (Nick) Wells, Colyn (Kim) Hohenstein, Kyle (Alesha) Dean, Jake Goertz, Carly (Jake) Dauffenbach, Hally (Travis) Janssen, Ean (Jacey) Hohenstein, and Erin Hohenstein. She is also survived by 20 great grandchildren and many beloved nieces and nephews, and a sister-in-law, Alice Carrigan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo; her parents; three sisters, Gertrude (Tiny), Ruth (Poopie) and June (Junie Prunie); seven brothers, Loyd (Turk), Victor (Vic), Albertus (Al/AJ), Loren (Ta), Weldon (Irish), Milburne(Big) and Melborne (Little). Blessed be her memory.
