Craig A. Stensrud, age 78, passed away August 27, 2025, in Winter Haven, Florida. A Visitation will take place on September 29, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, and a private burial at Lakefield Cemetery on Tuesday, September 30.
Craig was born on July 3, 1947, in Windom, Minnesota. He attended the Lakefield Public Schools and graduated in 1965. During those years, Craig worked at his father's grocery store and especially enjoyed attending and assisting at the stock car races in Jackson, Minnesota.
After graduation, Craig joined the air force and married Candy Smith. He completed his years of service in 1969, and they along with their son, Steve, moved to Worthington, Minnesota. Craig attended Worthington Junior College for two years while working at a grocery store. He earned an associate degree and began working at Highland Potato Chip Company and later at Sather Cookie/Candy Company. In 1974, Craig joined his dad in the grocery store and became sole owner after his dad's retirement. Their son, Eric, was born during those years. Craig was active in the community, as a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, as a fireman, and a member of the school board. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, bowling, golfing, boating and especially watching Minnesota sports teams
In 1998, Craig sold the store, and he and Candy moved to Winter Haven, Florida, where he worked in pest control until his retirement in 2014. He always looked forward to their annual summer trip to Minnesota, often stopping in Chicago. Some years the siblings traveled together to celebrate decade birthdays also. Craig loved time spent with his family and especially enjoyed each Christmas when his boys came home to celebrate with them.
Craig is survived by his wife, Candy; his sons Eric and Steve; sisters, Karen Stensrud, Pam (Larry) Anderson and Linda (Dave)Dean; sister-in- law Cindy (Don) Israel and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws, Vern and Jean Smith; brother, Curt Stensrud; and sister-in-law, Lynne Pohlman.
