David Kenneth
Paulson
Feb 7, 1942 — Dec 24, 2024
David Kenneth Paulson, age 82, of Jackson, MN, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2024, at his home. He was born on February 7, 1942, in Jackson, MN, to Garfield and Olive (Gillie) Paulson. David was baptized and confirmed at Hauges Lutheran Church near Bergen, MN.
After graduating from Jackson High School in 1961, David briefly worked in Minneapolis before returning to the Jackson area to work with various contractors. He later built and ran Paulson Farm Drainage for nearly 50 years before he retired. During the off season, he was busy with various endeavors such as operating a Scorpion Snowmobile dealership; driving semi-truck cross country; remodeling homes; and running a towing service. David worked long hours and instilled in his children the importance of a strong work ethic.
David's life was forever enriched when he married the love of his life, MaryBeth Mariner, on September 9, 1967, at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Jackson, MN, where they both remained faithful members. Together, they built a strong, loving family and created many cherished memories.
David was a man of few words, preferring to listen. He enjoyed listening and telling stories and his whole body would shake when he laughed. His happiness was in life's simple pleasures. He found joy snuggling with his grandchildren, taking long naps in the sunshine, and was up for anything, always wanting to go wherever his family was. Though he could be stubborn at times, David had a kind soul and was deeply proud of his children and grandchildren.
David is survived by his children: Lisa Paulson of Spirit Lake, Iowa, Chad (Denise) Paulson of Independence, Minnesota, Angela (David) Watts of Avon, Colorado, and Krista (Jeremy) Rowekamp of Merrillan, Wisconsin. He was a proud grandfather to Emery Groen, Kielyn and Weston Rowekamp, Wyatt and Katie Watts, and Piper Paulson. David's family was at the center of his world, and his love for them knew no bounds.
He is also survived by his loving siblings and siblings-in-law: Janet (Wayne) Hunter, Curtis (Myra) Paulson, Dianne McDaniel, Douglas Paulson, Norma Paulson, Robert (Cheryl) Mariner, Judith (Ross) Simmelink, David Mariner, and Susan (Jeffrey) Hennessy.
David was preceded in death by his beloved wife, MaryBeth (Mariner) Paulson; his parents, Garfield and Olive Paulson; his in-laws, Forrest and Valeria Mariner; and his siblings and siblings-in-law: Gloria and Richard Klassen, Garner Paulson, Carole and Lowell Hansen, Wallace McDaniel, and Stanley Mariner.
David cherished his weekly coffee dates with his siblings and his daily visits with his coffee buddies. These simple moments brought him great joy.
A funeral service will be held at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Jackson, MN, on February 15, with visitation at 10:00 AM and the service beginning at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery, with a luncheon served at Our Saviors.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly ask that memorial contributions be made to help cover unexpected costs dealing with their loss.
David's life was one of quiet strength, generosity, and faith. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who loved him.
