A Christian funeral and burial to remember the life of David Post, age 81, of Worthington will be held Friday, March 13th at 11:00 AM at St Paul Lutheran Church in Rost Township. Military honors will be provided by the Sievert-Peterson American Legion Post #608. Burial will be in the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery.

A visitation for David will be held on Thursday, March 12th from 5:00-7:00 PM at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Rost Township with a private family service at 4:00 PM. Visitation will continue on Friday at the church for one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorial donations in memory of David are preferred to St. Paul Lutheran Church.

David Harm Post was born on September 16, 1944, in Worthington, Minnesota, to Arnold Harm and Lois Caroline (Christoffer) Post. He was baptized on October 8, 1944, and confirmed on March 30, 1958, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Rost Township. David attended grade school at St. Paul Lutheran School in Rost Township from 1950–1958 and graduated from Okabena Public School with the Class of 1962, where he served as FFA President during his senior year. He attended one semester at the University of Minnesota's St. Paul Agriculture Campus before enlisting in the Army National Guard. David completed basic training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri, and later served at Fort Sheridan, Illinois, and Fort Carson, Colorado before receiving his honorable discharge.

On February 27, 1965, David married his high school sweetheart, Arlys Droll at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Rost Township, and the couple was blessed with two sons, Troy and Eric. As farmers, David and Aryls worked hard to create opportunities for their family. Over the years he served on numerous boards including the Okabena Farmers Co-op Elevator, Jackson County Farm Bureau, LLL Zone, Jackson County Pork Producers, Federated Rural Electric Association, Ewington Township Supervisor. He also served as a Rost Rustlers 4-H Leader.

Guided by his faith, David lived with humility, kindness, compassion, and a selfless spirit. He was slow to judge and quick to lend a hand. As a lifelong member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, David served faithfully as Treasurer, Trustee, Chairman, and Elder. He also served on the board of education, taught Sunday School and sang in the Men's Choir. His joy for music began with piano lessons and continued in high school, where he played the saxophone and later was a soloist for weddings and funerals. David was a member of the Okabena American Legion #608 and proudly served on the Legion Service Color Guard.

Family meant everything to Dave. He treasured time spent celebrating holidays together and attending the sporting events and activities of his sons and grandchildren. He also enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and working on 4-H projects with the kids and grandkids.

As his health declined, David was peacefully called to his heavenly home in the early morning hours of Sunday, March 8, 2026, at Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 61 years, Arlys Post of Worthington; sons, Troy (Gwen) Post of Brewster, and Eric (Barbara) Post of Lakefield; five grandchildren, Erika (Mike) Spampinato, Jacob (Mandy) Post, Alyssa Post (Connor Hansen), Nathaniel Post, and Taylor Post (fiancé, Austin Doorenbos); two great-grandchildren, Maeve Post and Everett Spampinato; brother, Gregory (Jackie) Post of Lakefield; sisters-in-law, Beverly (Wayne) Jansen and Sherri (Brad) Glaser and Joanne Post as well as many other relatives and dear friends.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Lois Post; siblings, Marlyn Post and Jeffry Post; parents-in-law, Edward and Winona Droll; and brother-in-law, Dennis Droll.
