Dean Stenzel was born December 2, 1929. Dean was a lifelong resident of Heron Lake. He was baptized at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Heron Lake. He attended elementary and graduated secondary school in Heron Lake. Dean then attended Vocational Ag school.

After school, Dean enlisted into the United States Army and served two years of active duty from 1954-1956. He was honorably transferred to the Army Reserve to complete an additional eight years of service.

Dean was first united in marriage to Darlene Pochardt. The union was blessed with one child, Linda. Darlene passed away in 1965. On June 28, 1969, Dean was then joined in marriage to Monica Matter. They were blessed with four children, Daniel, DeeNa, Lori and Adam. He farmed his land his entire life. Dean enjoyed hunting, gardening, farming, his cats and dogs, and collecting cars.

Dean passed away at his home in Heron Lake at the age of 92, on Tuesday, October 18, 2022 surrounded by his family.

Dean is survived by his wife of 53 years, Monica Stenzel of Heron Lake; five children, Linda (Mike) Horkey of Heron Lake, MN, Daniel (Melissa) Stenzel of Heron Lake, MN, DeeNa Stenzel of Savage, MN, Lori (Eric) Grott of Rogers, MN, and Adam Stenzel of Rochester, MN; 6 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and many relatives and friends.

Dean was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Rose Stenzel; his first wife, Darlene Stenzel; siblings, Darrell Stenzel, Donna (Stenzel) Freking, and Dallas (Stenzel) Boeck.
