Obituary

Denise Wade Young, born Denise Adele Wade, arrived on November 24, 1952, to the late William Host Wade and Mae Eileen Wade, in Lakewood OH. She grew up in Westlake, OH, where she attended St. Raphael Church and Elementary School, and then Magnificat High School, where she graduated in 1971. She attended Ohio University, graduating in 1975 with a bachelor's degree in Russian Studies. After graduation, she remained in Westlake, where she owned and ran a garden center, which began her love of flowers. She later moved to Texas for several years where she managed a fitness center. Eventually, Denise moved to Apache Junction, AZ, where she bought a house and became a realtor. It was there that she met Kevin, while he was on a work assignment. They would spend their time dancing and playing pool, and in 1989 Denise moved to Windom. Denise and Kevin were married August 18, 1989. In Windom, Denise participated in Bowling league and was especially talented in Pool league. Denise enjoyed waitressing at several restaurants, including PJs, while working at the high school. She retired from working at the high school in January 2017. After retirement, Denise focused her spare time on spending time with her family, spoiling her grandbabies, gardening, and wintering in one of her favorite places, Cape Coral, Florida. Denise enjoyed all things outdoors including hiking, boating, gardening, bird watching, and spending her days lounging in the sun. She will always be remembered for her wonderful cooking, her love of animals, and her amazing green thumb with her beautiful flower gardens. Denise was very kindhearted, always wanting to spend time with her children and grandchildren, and she loved watching their activities. One of her favorite things to do with her family was to go to new places and have an adventure. She always had an itinerary to make the most of each trip. She was the ultimate tour guide, with a knack for travel planning. On Sunday, June 12, 2022, Denise passed away at her home in Windom, surrounded by her loving family. She was 69 years old. Left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband, Kevin Young of Windom; three children, Michael (Sarah) Young of Humboldt, SD, Dylan Young of Slidell, LA, and Haley (Evan) Soulek of Dell Rapids, SD; four beautiful grandchildren, Weston (5), Mckinney (4), Addilyn (2) and Marshall (2), and one on the way; siblings, William Wade of Cleveland, OH, Shelley (Kent) Risner of Mansfield, OH, Randy (Kelly) Wade of Merritt Island, FL; sister- and brother-in-law, Chris (Scot) Potter of Windom; as well as many dear family and friends. Denise was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mae Wade; mother- and father-in-law, Betty and Charles Young; and sisters, Cherie Wade and Wendy Wade.
