Floyd Dennis Vollan was born on February 14, 1952 in Benson, Minnesota to the late Floyd and Dorothy Ann (Cummins) Vollan. He received his early education in Glenwood, Minnesota and in 1963, moved to Windom with his family and attended Windom Public Schools; graduating in the Class of 1970. He then enlisted in the Army National Guard for over twenty years. On June 17, 1972, Dennis was united in marriage to Debra Nelson at the American Lutheran Church in Windom. This marriage was blessed with three children, Lonny, Scott and Jodi. This marriage was later dissolved. For over twenty years, Dennis worked with his father, Floyd laying carpet before taking a job with MNDOT where he worked for twenty-nine years until retiring. After retiring, Dennis continued to live in Windom until just recently when he became very sick and was taken to the Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota where he passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at the age of 68 years. Dennis had many enjoyments in life which included, hunting, fishing, woodworking-building anything out of wood and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Dennis is survived by 3 children, Lonny (Lisa) Vollan of Windom; Scott (Katie Elmer) of Windom; Jodi (Ryan Sokolofsky) of Bingham Lake; seven grandchildren, Maitland and Kelsey Vollan, Alanna, Melanie and Macy Vollan, Haley and Hannah Dauer; four siblings, Lynn Sanford and her husband, Steve, of New Brighton; Connie Bauman and her husband, Duane, of Olivia; Diane (Scott) Kern of Jackson; Rick (Missy Vongsy) Vollan of Windom; and many nephews. Dennis is preceded in death by his parents. Blessed be the memory of Dennis Vollan.
