Obituary

Beloved Mother and Grandmother Diane Rae Johnson was born on November 4, 1942, the daughter of Howard and Carol Corbin. Diane was raised in the Jeffers area. She attended and graduated from Jeffers High School in 1960. Following high school, she worked at Prudential Insurance in Minneapolis. In 1961, she was united in marriage to Marvin Johnson. Following their marriage, the couple lived in the city of Windom for six years. At that time, Diane worked at Windom Bakery and Campbell Soup in Worthington. They then moved to their present home on the outskirts of Windom in 1967. There they raised their three children Debra, Scott and Brent. As a couple, Diane and Marv enjoyed seeing their kids participate in cheerleading, wrestling, and hockey activities. Diane spent forty years doing the bookwork for her husband's automotive business, Johnson's Auto Service. She always loved being a part of that experience and supporting her husband. Diane and Marv were able to travel extensively throughout the entire United States and parts of Canada and Mexico. Camping and RV'ing were also a big part of their family life. They also enjoyed bicycling on many state bike trails, as well as some golfing. Diane enjoyed family time and vacations together. She made sure the families had fun together and would plan special vacations in different areas so the family could all be together. She absolutely loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed her flower garden and yard work. She enjoyed doing crafts, especially florals, and enjoyed coffee with friends. Diane received Christ as her Savior as a teen and became a member of the First Baptist Church in Windom early in her married life. Her greatest desire was to share the love of Christ. She did this by being the family's spiritual leader and prayer warrior. Her greatest hope was to open the heart of a child to know Jesus. She did this by teaching Sunday School, Bible School, Awana, Good News Club in her home, and many opportunities set before her to serve her Lord and church family. On Wednesday, December 9, 2020 Diane passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by family in Windom at the age of 78 years. Shortly after Diane's death, Brent, Diane's youngest son, passed away at the St. Cloud Hospital in St. Cloud, Minnesota at the age of 51. They will be buried together at Memory Gardens in Windom. This is truly fitting as they are both at home with the Lord. Preceding her in death were her parents Howard and Carol Corbin and in-laws Gilbert Sr and Luella Johnson; her husband, Marv, in 2015, after 55 years of marriage; brothers-in-law, Truman Johnson and Gilbert Johnson Jr and wife; sister-in-law, Chiquita Corbin. Diane is survived by her children Deb (Bob) Alt of Apple Valley, MN; Scott (Rachel) of Chadron, NE; and daughter-in-law LaDonna of Milan, MN; grandchildren: Cassie (Rohnie) Sykes, Avery (Priscilla), Allie, Corbin, Fletcher, Barret, and four great-grandchildren: Harper, Peyton, Cameron and Jordyn; brothers: Gary Corbin of Auburn, KY and Bruce (Sally) Corbin of Westbend, WI; and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers and cards, please make a donation in memory of Diane to two of her favorite charities: Feed My Starving Children at www.fmsc.org or Samaritan's Purse at www.samaritanspurse.org. A celebration of life will follow at a future date.
