Donald William Fossing was born on June 8, 1929, to the late Henry and Norine (Sanderson) Fossing in Saint Paul, Minnesota. He attended public school and graduated from Murray High School. After graduation, Don was drafted into the United States Army and deployed to Korea, serving his country in the 23rd infantry, 2nd division.

Upon returning home, he was united in marriage to Janet Audrey DuBay on June 6, 1953, in Iowa. Their marriage was blessed with six children, Sharon, Daniel, Linda, Shirley, William, and Jennifer.

In 1960, Don moved his family to their forever home in Windom, Minnesota. Don worked as a Salesman for many years, choosing not to retire until the age of 80. In Windom, Don became a member of the American Lutheran Church where he served as an usher for 50 years. He also enjoyed filling young minds with the Word of the Lord, teaching Sunday school for many years.

Don served on the Windom City Council for 10 years, the Cable TV Board for 10 years, and was a longtime member of the local VFW. When Don wasn't busy with church and civic duties, he spent time outdoors gardening, fishing, and hunting. He also loved spending time at the local bowling alley playing league.

Donald William Fossing passed away peacefully, at the age of 94 years, at Windom Area Hospital on February 23, 2024.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Janet Audrey (DuBay) Fossing; children, Sharon Haroldson of Brighton, CO, Dan (Pam) Fossing of Windom, Shirley (George) Hosch of Oakdale, Bill (Sherri Lyons) Fossing of Excelsior; sixteen grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

Don was preceded in death by two daughters, Linda Ryan and Jennifer Davies; grandson, Tony Haroldson; parents, Henry and Norine Fossing; brother, Richard (Mary Ann) Fossing; parents-in-law, James (Mildred) DuBay; brother-in-law, Joe (Ruth) DuBay; and sisters-in-law, Beverly (Jim) Brusoe and Shirley DuBay.

A Celebration of Life Service for Donald "Don" W. Fossing, age 94, of Windom, will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 14th at the American Lutheran Church in Windom with Pastor Sarah Larsen Tade officiating. The Celebration of Life Service will be live streamed on the American Lutheran Church Facebook page. Full military honors will be outside the church immediately following the service. The burial will be held in the Lakeview Cemetery in Windom.

A time of visitation and gathering will be held on Wednesday, March 13th at the LaCanne Family Celebration of Life Center in Windom from 5:00-7:00 PM and for one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the American Lutheran Church in Windom.
