A Celebration of Life Service for Donald Palmer, age 84, of Jackson, will be held Wednesday, July 17th at 11:00 AM, with a time of visitation and gathering from 9:30-11:00 AM, at the LaCanne Family Celebration of Life Center in Jackson with Pastor Martin Lucin officiating. Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Jackson.
Donald Ray Palmer was born on August 13, 1939, in Lakefield, Minnesota to the late Judd and Helen (Roesner) Palmer. Donald grew up in the Christian faith and was baptized in August of 1939 and later confirmed at the United Methodist Church in Lakefield. Donald attended school in Lakefield, Minnesota and graduated in the Class of 1957.
In 1959, Donald was united in marriage to Mary Lou Hage and to this union three children were born, Glenn, Donna and Lonna. On June 9, 1979, Donald was united in marriage to Dianne Lev-Kuehl and Scott and Kristy were blessed with a stepfather.
Donald worked for Great Plains Supply Company for several years before becoming self-employed with Palmer Construction until his retirement in 2002, after 45 years of dedicated work.
Donald had many enjoyments in his life which included camping, fishing, golfing (1-hole in one), traveling in the RV to Texas for the winter, cardplaying, woodworking, birthday parties and most of all, spending time with his ever-growing family.
Recently, Donald entered hospice care in his home and passed away there peacefully, with his family at his side, on Thursday, July 11, 2024, at the age of 84 years.
Donald is survived by his wife of forty-five years, Dianne Palmer of rural Jackson; five children, Glenn (Shelly) Palmer of Lakefield, Lonna (Bruce) Burmeister of Lakefield, Donna (Mike) Bisaillon of Lakefield, Scott (Kendra) Kuehl of Grand Island, NE, and Kristy (Chad) Harmening of Papillion, NE; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law, Doris Palmer of Worthington, Loretta Palmer of Lakefield, Evonne Place of Lakefield, and Patty Svoboda of Jackson; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Donald is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Judd and Tom Palmer; three sisters, Mildred (George) Greiner, Donna Mae Palmer, and Bonnie (Mel) Olson; brothers- and sisters-in-law, Harlan Place, Don Svoboda, Robert Lev, Darrell (Betty) Lev, Cecil (Norma) Lev, and Dick (Donna) Lev.
