Obituary

Donald Schuknecht aka Spook, age 85, of Windom passed peacefully away at the Good Samaritan Society Sogge Memorial in Windom on March 16, 2022. Donald was born in Minneapolis MN on March 28, 1936. He was adopted as a young man into the family of Walter and Esther Schuknecht. They lived on a farm seven miles south of Storden. He attended the country school through 6th grade and then attended Storden Public School throughout the rest of his education. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Okabena. Donald and Eldora Schmidt were married on December 31, 1964, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Eldora had two boys, Rodney and Steve from a previous marriage and Donald assisted her in raising them. Donald worked as a truck driver for various companies while living in Windom. He drove truck for Elmer Ferguson, worked ten years for Windom Ready Mix. He drove milk truck for Okabena Creamery, and hauled grain, cattle and whatever he needed to. Donald and Eldora sold their home in Windom and moved to Cave City, Arkansas where they lived until Eldora's passing. Here Don farmed, did bushhogging and maintenance for various customers. Donald has a good sense of humor and loved to tease. He enjoyed spending time outdoors and going to auctions with friends. He loved collecting toy tractors and trucks. He is survived by one sister, Ruth Egenes of Slayton, MN: one stepson Steve (Deborah) Schmidt; one step daughter-in-law, Marjorie Schmidt and numerous grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Esther Schuknecht; his wife, Eldora and one stepson, Rodney Schmidt. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in don's name to the American Heart Association.
