Doris Anna Caraway was born on March 18, 1927 to the late Harm and Bena (Stadtlander) Evers in Mountain Lake, MN. She was baptized on October 22, 1927 and confirmed on April 18, 1943 at the Salem Lutheran Church in Comfrey. She attended Country School District 47. She grew up on a farm in Selma Township.
Doris was united in marriage to Wayne Caraway on November 10, 1953 at the Salem Lutheran Church in Comfrey. This marriage was blessed with two children, James and Barbara. Following their marriage Doris and Wayne lived on the family farm in Delafield Township of Jackson County. They worked side by side on the farm until retiring in 1988. They continued to live on the farm until entering The Good Samaritan Society-The Village in 2014. They remained there together until Wayne passed away on August 7, 2014. Doris passed away on Saturday, December 19, 2020 at the age of 93 years.
Doris was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Windom and in her younger years attended Circle and sewing days. She loved gardening and canning. She loved to bake and was known for her baked bread and rolls. She was an avid Minnesota Twins fan. She also loved spending time with her family on the farm.
Doris is survived by her two children James Caraway of Worthington and Barbara (Rick) Nelson of Windom; granddaughter Renee (Daniel) Harley of Windom; great grandson Elias Harley; brothers and sisters Clara Schenk of Butterfield, Walter (Marie) Evers of Comfrey, Irene Zimmerman of Comfrey, Richard (Susan) Evers of Comfrey and David (Sharon) Evers of Jeffers; sister-in-law's Carol Evers of Lakota Iowa, Jane Evers of Comfrey and many nieces and nephews.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents; husband Wayne; granddaughter Tiffany Nelson; brothers Herman and Elmer Evers; brother-in-law's Ben Christianson, Armin Schenk and Eugene Zimmerman; nephews Rodney and Curtis Evers, and great-nephew Andrew Holland.
