Dorothy Ann (Cummins) Vollan was born on June 25, 1930, on the family farm in Glenwood, Minnesota to Melvin and Leona (Foner) Cummins. She was baptized in Glenwood, MN and received her education in Villard, Minnesota. On October 18, 1950, Dorothy was united in marriage to Floyd Vollan in Glenwood. After their marriage they continued to live in Glenwood until moving to Windom, Minnesota in 1963. Dorothy kept busy as a homemaker. Floyd passed away on October 18, 2005. In May of 2015, Dorothy moved to Jackson, Minnesota and shortly after that she moved in to the Good Samaritan Society in Jackson where she lived until passing away on Saturday morning, January 2, 2016 at the age of 85. Dorothy was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Windom. She will be remembered for her love of gardening, jigsaw puzzles, playing family games, cards, trivia, and canning. Dorothy was a seamstress, embroidered pillowcases, made quilts and rugs, and crocheted afghans. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by five children, Lynn Sanford and her husband, Steve, of New Brighton, Dennis Vollan of Windom, Connie Bauman and her husband, Duane, of Olivia, Diane Johnson of Jackson, and Rick Vollan of Windom; eight grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; six siblings, Elaine Schwendeman of Benson, Gloria Town of Park Rapids, Margie Hoff of Menahga, Violet Razink of Alexandria, Bonnie Federation of Minnesota, and John Cummins of Park Rapids; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Floyd; and brother, Virgil Cummins. Blessed be the memory of Dorothy A. Vollan.
