Edna May Hansen was born on May 19, 1933, in Webster County, Iowa, to the late Lars Larsen and Clara (Nelson) Larsen. On June 22, 1962, May was united in marriage to LeRoy Truman Hansen at the Storden Baptist Church. The marriage was blessed with three children, Beth, Hans and Andrew.
May graduated from Jeffers Public School and continued her education at Mankato State University, with a bachelor's degree in education. She taught elementary school for children in various places from Jeffers, MN all the way to California and several places in between. May also served as the organist and financial secretary at Jeffers Baptist Church.
May loved gardening and was an active member of the local Garden Club. She loved bringing joy to others with her flowers and garden produce, such as tomatoes and cantaloupe. She tended many different gardens and loved making refrigerator pickles. She helped on the farm with the dairy cows, bottle feeding the calves and whatever task needed to be completed. May was known for her home cooked meals.
May is survived by her three children, Beth (Lowell) Walters of Manila, AR; Hans Hansen of Zeeland, MI; and Andrew Hansen of LaCresent, MN; sister Leona Carlblom of Westbrook, MN; three grandchildren Tyler, Savannah and Autumn and nieces and nephews.
May is preceded in death by her husband, LeRoy T Hansen; her parents, Lars and Clara Larsen; and brother-in-law, Elmer Carlblom.
