A Celebration of Life Service for Edward "Eddie" Yonker, age 92, of Windom, formerly of Bingham Lake, will be held Friday, May 3rd, at 11:00 AM at The American Lutheran Church in Windom with Pastor Adam Roberts officiating. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Post 206 of Windom, MN.  The service will be livestreamed on the American Lutheran Church Facebook Page and the family requests "western attire" for Eddie's service. Burial will be held at a later date at the Hauges Cemetery, rural Jackson County.

A time of visitation and gathering will be held on Thursday, May 2nd from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at the LaCanne Family Celebration of Life Center in Windom. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the service on Friday, from 10:00 – 11:00 AM, at The American Lutheran Church in Windom.

Edward "Eddie" Gordon Yonker was born on February 9, 1932, in Jackson, Minnesota, to Mike & Mable (Lee) Yonker. Eddie was baptized, and later confirmed at the Stall Church in rural Jackson. He attended grade school and graduated from Jackson High School in 1951.

On December 26, 1954, Eddie was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Janice Nestegard. Eddie served in the US Army, and spent two years overseas in Germany with Jan. After they returned, he farmed north of Jackson. They were blessed with four children, Maureen, Margret, Edward II (Bud), and Marcia. In 1967, they purchased a farm north of Bergen and farmed until they moved to town in 2018.

Eddie was a large part of the community. He served 24 years as Jackson County Commissioner. He was a 4-H Leader and a member of both the Jackson County Fair Board and the Cottonwood Cattle Producers. Eddie had an immense passion for cattle and farming. He also enjoyed baking pies, donuts, and cookies to gift to friends, family, and neighbors. "Thin pancakes" were his specialty for family breakfasts.

Eddie passed away on April 26, 2024, at the Good Samaritan Society-Sogge Memorial in Windom, Minnesota at the age of 92 years.

Left to cherish Eddie's memory are his 3 children, Maureen (Eric) Herbst of Sweeny, TX, Ed (Nikki) Yonker of Bingham Lake, MN, and Marcia (Steve) Dewald of Columbus, NE; five grandchildren, Taylor (Rachel) Schmidt, Kaylee (Beau) Godwin, Evan (Liz) Dewald, Austin Yonker, and Braden Yonker; and four great-grandchildren, Avery, Wajer, Colt, and Tripp; one brother-in-law, Doug (Dee) Nestegard; and many nieces and nephews.

Eddie was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-eight years, Janice "Jan" (Nestegard) Yonker; his parents, Mike and Mable Yonker; infant daughter, Margret; brothers, LeRoy Yonker, Myron Anderson; parents-in-law, Roy and Verna Nestegard; and brother-in-law David Nestegard.
