Eileen June (Byre) Giese was born on June 30, 1935, to Palmer and Agnes (Stenstuen) Byre in Appleton, Minnesota. She was baptized on September 1, 1935, at Long Lake Lutheran Church, Hegbert Township, and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Appleton on June 11, 1950. Eileen graduated from Appleton High School in 1953.
Eileen was united in marriage to Lynden William Giese on April 2, 1955, at Zion Lutheran Church in Appleton. It was a double-wedding with her sister Audrey and Elmer Schliemann. Eileen and Lyn lived in Appleton, Willmar, and Benson, before settling in Windom in 1968.
Eileen and Lyn worked together in the produce department at Gordy's and Sunshine Foods until Lyn's death in 1995. Eileen continued working at "the store" and retired from Hy-Vee in March 2011. She enjoyed baking, bowling, flower gardening, and having morning coffee with her friends and neighbors.
Eileen was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Windom.
Eileen passed away of dementia-related causes on May 27, 2022, at the Good Samaritan Society-Sogge Memorial, Windom, where she had resided since 2017.
Eileen is survived by her daughter, Terry (Rick) Alberts; five sons, Mark (Kelly) Giese; Mike (Mary) Giese; Todd (Kris) Giese; Brent (Sharee) Giese; and Brian Giese; 11 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; one sister, Clarice (Neil) Perseke; one brother-in-law, Elmer Schliemann; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Giese and Lola Phelps; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Eileen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lynden; sister, Audrey; and brothers, Duane Byre and Donald Byre.
