Obituary

A Celebration of Life Service for Elaine Dvorak, age 85, of rural Jackson, will be held Friday, June 21, 2024, at 10:30 AM at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Jackson with Pastor John Schuetz officiating. Burial will be in Good Shepherd Catholic Cemetery. The service will be livestreamed on the Our Redeemer Lutheran Church Facebook page.

A time of visitation and gathering will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2024, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at the LaCanne Family Celebration of Life Center in Jackson. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the service on Friday, June 21st from 9:30 – 10:30 AM, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Jackson.

Elaine Lydia (Engelhardt) Dvorak was born to the late Roy and Alma (Stolz) Engelhardt on April 7, 1939, in Waseca, Minnesota. She was raised in the Christian Faith. She attended public school, graduating from Dodge Center High School with the class of 1957. After graduation Elaine moved to Rochester, Minnesota where she worked as a Surgery Technician at St. Mary's Hospital for thirteen years.

She was united in marriage to Donald Dvorak on April 3, 1971, at the church of Good Shepherd in Jackson, Minnesota. Their union was blessed with four children: Joleen, Jeanine, Nancy, and Tony.

Elaine was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was a caregiver, always putting others first. She enjoyed gardening, cooking/baking, and spending time outside on the farm. She spent time working outside of the home too, as a waitress and the Head Bank Teller at Bank Midwest in Jackson. Elaine was a longtime member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, serving on the church alter guild. She was witty, kind, selfless, respectful and faithful. Elaine's greatest love was her family. Her family will forever cherish memories of her in their hearts.

Elaine Dvorak passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 16, 2024, at the Good Samaritan Society in Jackson, Minnesota.

She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Donald Dvorak; children, Joleen (Matt) Johnson of Redwood Falls, Jeanine (Scott) Hanson of Cottonwood; Nancy (Dan) Oehlke of Afton, and Tony (Sara) Dvorak of Jackson; grandchildren, Kollin (Lauren) Hanson, Kylie (Tyson) Sonnenburg, Caitlyn (Tommy Amberg) Johnson, Carter Johnson, Cali Johnson, Alex Oehlke, Alayna Oehlke, and Ella Oehlke; great-grandchild Briggs Hanson; sister Lorinda (Michael) Schieck; brother-in-law Dallas Herrick; sister-in-law Judy Engelhardt; as well as many other nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Alma Engelhardt; siblings, Lucille Hoy, Dorothy Born, Donna Johnson, LeRoy Engelhardt, Loren Engelhardt, Sharyl Herrick, Lyle Engelhardt; as well as many brothers- and sisters-in-law, and loved ones.

Blessed be the memory of Elaine Lydia Dvorak.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent in Elaine's honor to support Parkinson's research.
