A Celebration of Life Service to honor the life and legacy of Eldon Moon, age 83, of Windom, will be held Friday, October 11th at 11:00 AM at the Windom Methodist Church in Windom. The service will be livestreamed on the Windom Methodist Church Facebook page. Military honors will be provided by American Legion Post #206 of Windom. Burial will be in Memory Garden's Cemetery in rural Windom.

A visitation for Eldon will be held on Thursday, October 10th from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the LaCanne Family Celebration of Life Center in Windom. Visitation will continue Friday at the Windom Methodist Church in Windom for one hour prior to the service.

Eldon Jay Moon was born on February 20, 1941, in Heron Lake, Minnesota, to the Jess and Hazel (Clark) Moon. He attended Windom High School and graduated with the class of 1959. After graduating, Eldon enlisted in the U.S. Navy, where he toured on the USS Putnam. Later, he was honorably discharged and returned to Windom. He attended Humboldt Institute, earning an associate degree in Traffic Management in 1960.

Eldon was united in marriage to Jacqueline Erickson on April 25, 1965, in Windom, Minnesota. They lived and raised their family in Windom, Lewistown, Montana, Yankton, South Dakota, and Beresford, South Dakota. In 2006, Jackie tragically passed away. Eldon moved back to Windom and was fortunate to meet a new life partner. On October 16, 2010, Eldon married Deanna (Guritz) Gregory at the First United Methodist Church in Windom. Eldon worked as a John Deere salesman and then owned a Culligan water conditioning business. He loved taking Sunday afternoon drives. Eldon was a skilled wood worker and enjoyed hunting. He was a longtime member of both the First United Methodist Church and the Bald Eagles Club in Windom.

Eldon passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 5th at the Good Samaritan Society, Sogge Memorial, in Windom.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Deanna Moon of Windom; brother, Jerry Moon of Windom; children, Lisa (Eric) Vernon of St. Anthony, Stacey Deery and Scott Zerfas of Las Vegas, NV, David (Diana) Moon of Austin; step children, Kim (David) Reynolds of Redwood Falls, Lynn (Karen) Gregory of Carver, and Tammy Tordson of Redwood Falls; grandchildren, Shelby (Cole) Markey, Ben Vernon, Austin Deery, Eliza Moon, Lydia Moon, Kayla Trembley, and Kimberly Hanson; step grandchildren, Shawn and Chad Tordson, Lita Schoenecker, William and Grant Gregory, Jennifer Currier, and Greg Reynolds; as well as 11 great-grandchildren.

Eldon was preceded in death by his parents, Jess and Hazel Moon; first wife, Jacqueline Erickson; and brother, Bruce Moon.
